Electronic Arts (EA) is set to shutdown seven additional games following their recent announcement about the closure of The Simpsons: Tapped Out, which will be completely discontinued on January 24th2025. Next year will be challenging for EA fans, as nine games have already been confirmed to terminate their operations in January 2025.

EA is shutting down a total of nine titles next year

EA is on a rampage, shutting down games right and left. If the closure of The Simpsons: Tapped Out wasn’t already disappointing enough, brace yourself as they are shutting down seven more games along with Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, which will discontinue its service on January 16, 2025.

Here’s the list of the seven EA games that will shutdown next year:

  • Blood & Glory: Immortals – January 29, 2025
  • Contract Killer: Sniper – January 29, 2025
  • Deer Hunter Classic – January 29, 2025
  • Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores – January 29, 2025
  • Eternity Warriors 4 – January 29, 2025
  • Frontline Commando 2 – January 29, 2025
  • Frontline Commando: D-Day – January 29, 2025

Niccolo De Masi, former CEO of Glu Mobile, recently discussed the reasons behind the failure of some celebrity games, like the shutdown of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood on April 18, 2024, after a successful decade on mobile. Glu Mobile, founded in 2001, was acquired by EA in a deal worth $2.4 billion.

It’s been a tough year for gaming fans as so many old and new games, famous and underrated, are set to discontinue this year and the coming year. We can expect more games to follow suit and face discontinuation this year and the coming year. And it’s not just EA doing this, other gaming studios are also making similar moves.

With this, EA’s track of killing studios and their games has continued. They have been notorious for acquiring studios that have been doing well. Be it Westwood Studios in the past or Visceral Games. Here’s hoping there are no more game shutdowns.
