MapleStory is a new Idle RPG from NEXON Company where you set off on exciting adventures to become the most powerful Mapler in Maple World. To accomplish this, you will fight numerous Snail bosses and continually venture across lands, defeating the bad guys. In this MapleStory: Idle RPG Beginners Guide, I will guide you through the basics and the most fundamental mechanics of this Idle RPG so that you can survive and grow stronger easily in this intriguing new world.

MapleStory Gameplay Basics

This game is an idle form of role-playing, where you will accompany the protagonist character to become the strongest in Maple World. There is no real need for you to control either the movement or attacks of your character whatsoever, as the major tasks would be to manage your character’s growth while adventuring around Maple World.

At the beginning of the game, you’d have to choose a role for your main character. The role your character falls in will determine its attack pattern and type. Therefore, I’d be highlighting the 3 main roles available for you to choose from:

  • Warrior Role: This role features Fighters wielding powerful melee weapons against enemies. This role is split into the Hero class and the Dark Knight class.
  • Arch Mage Role: In this role, you get to learn powerful spells and abilities to burst down enemies. There’s the Ice/Lightning Class and the Fire/Poison Class.
  • Thief Role: This role showcases your character as an assassin, creeping in from the shadows and taking down enemies. There are Night Lord and Shadower Class.

Therefore, you should choose the Role you prefer the most and get the most suitable equipment and abilities for the character. In the following section, I shall be putting forward some key tips and points you must remember while playing this game.

MapleStory: Idle RPG Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks

The following are some key tips and tricks that’d help you scale and become stronger much easily in this game.

1. Do as the Quests demand

Like most RPGs, the game only moves forward if you complete the missions assigned to you. These missions are highlighted in the top left corner for easy accessibility. Also, the quests are arranged in a way that helps you easily build up the stats and builds of your hero.

Some missions include leveling up your hero stats, completing some Boss fights, or even upgrading equipment and spells. Therefore, it is best to complete the currently assigned task so that you can get more and progress in the game. Moreso, completing missions grants you lots of exciting rewards and EXP needed to level up your hero.

2. Constantly Upgrade your Hero’s Stats and Level

As said earlier, since it is an idle game, you need to manually control and manage your character’s stats and accessories, instead of controlling its movement. It is worth noting that your character’s strength increases the higher your stats and level.

To increase your Character’s Stats, you will have to click on the Characters tab in your bottom right corner. You can then upgrade your character’s Main stat, defense, and Max HP, as well as other Special Stats, which will be available depending on your hero’s level.

3. Constantly summon and defeat Elite Monsters to unlock Special Equipment

Besides the regular Snails that you casually defeat in the main UI, there are Elite Monsters. These Elite Monsters are much larger, and they grant superb rewards on defeating them. The Rewards mostly include defensive items like Pants, Top, Shoes, Hoods, etc.

The best part about these Elite Monsters is that you can casually summon them and earn those exciting rewards. To gain the most from this, ensure to constantly upgrade your Summoning Level. A high Summoning Level will give high-tier items whenever you defeat an Elite Monster.

4. Upgrade your weapons and Skills for a better Performance

Equipping Powerful Weapons and Skills can really boost how easily you clear monsters and progress in the game. The Higher your Level, the easier it is to unlock powerful new abilities.

5. Clearing Resource Dungeons is a Priority

Dungeons are a really important feature in MapleStory Idle RPG, as clearing them provides you with a lot of resources. Be it for Exp, Gold, Diamonds, or Weapons, clearing and defeating Bosses in each Dungeon will give you a strong edge in the game.
