The 33rd SEA Games 2025 in Thailand is set to kick off this December with four esports titles across men’s and women’s categories. Following the first appearance in 2019, this is the fourth consecutive time the SEA Games is ready to witness the action-packed thrill live. Among the four titles, three will be mobile titles.
Scheduled to kick off on the 13th of December 2025, the esports part of the event will run for about a week and conclude by crowning the top teams. Being a competition for countries, it’s no wonder there won’t be any organization-based teams. The regular events will start on the 9th of December.
Four esports titles to rock the audience, an action-packed week is coming
The Olympic Council of Asia organizes the 33rd SEA Games 2025. The event will host four titles spanning six events. The competition will take place offline at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. The titles are:
Among the titles, Mobile Legends and Arena of Valor will have both men’s and women’s events, while the other two games will only feature men’s events. However, participant teams for Free Fire and EA SPORTS FC Online can be made up of both men and women players.
33rd SEA Games 2025 esports: All announced titles and details
The titles will have a separate qualification system, mirroring their own system used in the competitions. Here’s a brief detail of the events:
Arena of Valor
The number of participants for both men’s and women’s events in Arena of Valor is only four each, although the game is immensely popular in the country. The women’s event will begin first, and will run from the 15th of December to the 16th. On the other hand, the men’s event will take place during the following two days. Apart from these, there isn’t any information available on the title.
Free Fire
There will be 12 teams, and the event will start with the point rush stage on the 17th of December 2025. Teams will also receive Headstart Points after each day based on their daily standings. The Grand Final will take place on the following day, and all the teams will participate.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
There will be 10 teams for the men’s event, divided into two groups, each having five. All the matches will be BO2, where the top three will advance to the next stage. The next stage will be a knockout, single-elimination bracket will be used. The knockout, semifinals, and bronze medal match will be BO5, and the gold medal match will be BO7.
For the women’s event, a group will have five teams, while the other group will consist of four. All matches will be BO2 in the group stage, and the top three from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
The knockout stage will be played in a single-elimination bracket. Semifinal and bronze medal matches will be BO5, while the gold medal event will be BO7.
EA SPORTS FC Online
The game hasn’t released much information about the competition. So far, we know that there will be six teams and the event will run from the 13th of December to the 14th. Besides, it will be a 1v1 event on the PC platform.
The esports scene has been around for quite some time, running side by side with conventional sports, and has also received medal event status. The performance graph in this segment of entertainment continued to prove that the decision to grant esports a place beside the traditional games was worthy. And now, with another edition at the edge of arrival, the fans and spectators will be jammed up for another successful conclusion.
The next edition of this sports event will take place in Malaysia in 2027. We can only hope to see a bigger and better event in the esports segment, along with a higher number of teams.
