- Durango returns in a cartoon-style survival world accessible through MapleStory Worlds.
- Core features like building, hunting, dinosaurs, and warps are fully included.
- The game is available to play on Android, iOS, and also via the browser site.
If you ever wished Durango would make a comeback, well, it quietly did, just in a different form. After digging around for hours, a few players finally spotted a new version called “Durango: The Lost Island”, and it’s hiding inside Nexon’s MapleStory Worlds app.
Durango: The Lost Island can be a “mini version” of the once super popular title
Once you jump in, the game will instantly feel familiar. It starts the same way, and suddenly you’re dropped into the wild lands again. The difference now is that you’re playing in a mini 15-player world, and like the devs say, cuter Dinos.
You still gather, hunt, build bases, research tech, and slowly unlock more features as you progress. It’s smaller in scale, but not tiny for sure. To play it, all you need is the MapleStory Worlds app for Android from the Google Play Store and on iOS via App Store.
It’s basically a hub full of Nexon-created mini experiences, and Durango sits right there among them. Call it a mini game if you want, but honestly, it feels more like a compact survival playground built for fans who missed the original.
For those who came from Durango: Wild Lands, you already know the history. The original beta launched in 2016 and had a huge following because of its unique survival-meets-dinosaur formula. Sadly, Nexon shut the servers down in late 2019, leaving a lot of fans disappointed.
However, we do have some hope to hold on to with Project DX, as it has been in development for a while now. First reported to be developed by Nat Games, it was officially revealed by Nexon back in 2022. However, the game is said to have slower development, so the wait is long.
If you don’t want to play it on Android or iOS, you can test out the browser version of the game from the official website.
