Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the upcoming superhero release from Skydance Games and Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame, has been delayed.
Yes, it was quite an eventful night last night. While I was curled up under the covers watching Amandaland (it’s hilarious), the industry was reacting to not just one but two video game delays from two pretty big IPs.
Along with GTA6, which is now set to release in November of next year rather than the previously announced May, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has also seen its release window nudged out of the previously announced “early 2026” bracket. The news itself came via a post on developer Skydance’s social media, which read:
“At Skydance Games, our goal is to deliver unforgettable, premium games that honor the characters and worlds we’re fortunate to work with. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect.
“To fully realise our vision for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window beyond early 2026.
“We’re grateful for the passion and support from the community and players around the world. The team is working hard to create something truly special, and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.”
Notably, the studio did not share a new release window with its community.
We got our first teaser for Hennig’s then-unnamed Marvel game back in 2022, following its announcement back in 2021. Since then, we have been offered a few more smallish snippets, including a peek at Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra’s take on Wakanda, as well as a look at the game’s use of Epic’s MetaHuman Creator which gives each character remarkable detail.
Now, I just wonder when Marvel’s Wolverine will get a release date…?
