King Pro League (KPL) Grand Finals 2025 kicks off with nearly $10M prize pool for China

King Pro League (KPL) Grand Finals 2025 cover

Honor of Kings kicks off the King Pro League (KPL) 2025 Grand Finals with a dozen teams and a huge stack of cash. The China-only event is the second edition of the KPL league, replacing the International Championship (KIC), which previously featured both Chinese and Global teams.

After two splits throughout the year (spring and summer) and selecting the contenders, the event is now ready to crown the new champion. The grand finals will take place in the Beijing National Stadium, the same stadium used to launch the 2008 Olympics. This placed the title parallel to the League of Legends in terms of featuring the top-tier event in big stadiums.

This season is jointly organized by TiMi Studios and Hero Esports, with a large list of sponsors. As already mentioned, the biggest event for HoK Esports will take place offline, and the game will be played in three different locations to complete the journey.

King Pro League Grand Finals 2025: Schedule and Format

Apart from the grand finals, there will be three stages of preliminary fights throughout the event. The first one, the Challenge Stage, will split teams into 2 groups based on the annual circuit points. They will fight a cross-group Single Round Robin Bo5 where the Global Ban Pick rule will be applied.

There will be two subgroups as well; the top six in the Master Group, while the rest six in the Elite Group. The top 4 from the master group and the winner of the elite group will advance to the Knockout Stage. On the other hand, the bottom two of the master group and the remaining five of the elite group will step into the Breakout Stage.

Breakout Stage

It will kick off on the 12th of October and will run for the next three days. This stage will take place in Chengdu, where 6 teams will compete in a single-elimination series. The top three winners will advance to the next stage. The first game will be for selecting sides, decided by a coin flip. The same coin flip rule will be applied to determine the side for the first game. All matches will be BO7 with Global Ban Pick and Ultimate Battle round applied.

Knockout Stage

Starting on the 17th of October, this stage will run for two weeks to end on the 2nd of November 2025. It will take place in Changsha with 8 teams playing in a double elimination, starting from the upper bracket quarterfinals. However, the draw will be random to decide the pairings.

The same coin flip rule will be applied to determine the side for the first game. All matches will be BO7 with Global Ban Pick and Ultimate Battle round applied.

Grand Finals

Finally, the moment every Honor of Kings player is ready to cheer for will arrive. On the 18th of November, 2025, the grand final will take place at Beijing National Stadium. The first game side selection will be given to the upper bracket finals winner. The same rule as the previous two stages will also be applied here, as matches will be BO7 with Global Ban Pick and Ultimate Battle round.

Participating Teams

There will be a total of 12 teams fighting all out for the trophy. As said before, there are two groups: Master and Elite, based on the annual points. While the defending champion AG Super Play will try to keep the title once again, the others will try their heart and soul to take the title away. Here’s a list of the participating teams:

Master Group

Elite Group

  • KuaiShow Gaming
  • EDward Gaming
  • Rogue Warriors
  • TOP Esports Armor
  • Qing Jiu Club
  • JD Gaming

Prize Pool

The most attractive thing about the event for me is the prize pool. About $10M will be shared among the teams. The champion will get nearly $3M. The exact amount of the prize pool is ¥70,000,000, which is approximately $9,832,200. However, the distribution of the prize money is as follows:
