Battle Changes, Unified Town Hall upgrades, and more

Clash of Clans is preparing a major update this October 2025 that’s set to reshape a lot of things and possibly bring new arrivals. As per the details revealed at the time of writing, this update aims to give players more freedom and less grind. Here’s a breakdown of the biggest highlights coming soon.

Unified Town Hall Upgrades

One of the biggest quality-of-life changes is the removal of star upgrade levels for Town Halls 12 to 15, along with Town Hall 17. Instead of going through multiple star upgrades, these Town Halls will now have just one clear upgrade level, similar to how Town Hall 16 already works.

For players, this means no more extra grind and fewer resources spent on the same building. If you were in the middle of upgrading, the process will be cancelled, but your Town Hall weapon will instantly match the stats of a fully maxed version.

Spring Trap Rework

Spring Traps are getting a big overhaul. Instead of flinging multiple small troops, they will now focus on a single target, specifically, the troop with the highest housing space in range. If the troop’s housing space is larger than the trap’s capacity, it will take heavy damage.

If this damage destroys the troop, it will be ejected. If the troop survives, it will be thrown vertically. Seven new levels are being introduced for Spring Traps, starting from Town Hall 11 up to level 12. Builder Base is also included in this rework, with Spring Traps getting a new level there, too.

New Battle Modes: Farming and Ranked

Multiplayer is undergoing one of its biggest shakeups ever, splitting into two new modes: Battle and Ranked Battle. Battle Attacks will become the default farming mode, where you can freely choose opponents, farm resources, and skip bases without worrying about trophies.

Ranked Battles, on the other hand, are trophy-focused. With limited daily attacks and no option to skip, this mode is designed for competitive pushes. Trophies will now only be tied to Ranked Battles, giving players more control over how they want to play without being forced into Legends League too early.

League System Overhaul

Leagues are being reworked alongside the new Ranked mode. Starting at Town Hall 7, Ranked Battles act like a smaller version of Legends League, with new tiers and special modifiers planned for higher leagues. Both farming and ranked attacks will still contribute to Star and League Bonuses, but only Ranked will affect trophies.

When will the October 2025 Update release in Clash of Clans

The last season under the current system runs until October 6, 2025, so going by that, we might be getting the update around that time. Not too sure if Town Hall 18 will arrive alongside, which, according to me, is highly unlikely. Till then, keep an eye on updates!
