Japanese multinational video game and entertainment company KONAMI has announced the World Championship (WCS) 2026 for its Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. And this time, the esports event is coming back to its place of origin, Japan. Following its evergreen trend, the esports tournament will be staged in August. A teaser trailer has been released with the announcement for next year’s plan.

Last year’s edition, the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship (WCS) 2025 was a success for the company, where the event crowned new world champions. The tournament took place in Paris, the first time in Europe in over half a decade. But most importantly, French President Emmanuel Macron surprised viewers by sending a warm welcome to the audience.

While KONAMI hasn’t shared many details about the event and its format, we know that it will feature four titles and crown four champions. The games to be featured are Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG)Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, and two different tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS. It is scheduled to kick off on the 29th of August and will end on the 30th.
