Pokémon Friends Overview
Let’s start with the gameplay overview of Pokémon Friends to help you get a clear idea of how the game works. Here, your primary objective is to bring happiness to Think Town, a cozy place where everyone loves plush toys. To do that, you’ll be solving puzzles and using yarn to craft Pokémon plushies.

The game begins with an introduction to Think Town and the Plush-O-Matic, a special machine that creates plushies once you add yard to it. But there’s a catch, as the yarn is tangled. To untangle them, you’ll need to clear fun challenges like Pikachu’s Power Line or Hopping Hurdles, all within a set limit.
Beyond the daily puzzle-solving, you also have your very own Plush Room to decorate with furniture and the plushies you’ve made. A cool addition is the in-game calendar, where you can mark the days you’ve completed puzzles. Even better, you can revisit any past day to replay and practise those puzzles.
Introducing the Basics of Pokémon Friends
Pokemon Plushies and Yarns
There are different types of yarns in the game, and you unlock specific Pokémon plush based on them. Here’s a list of them:

- Fiery and Pretty Nice Fiery Yarns: Charmander, Charizard, Scorbunny, and Fuecoco.
- Soggy and Pretty Nice Soggy Yarns: Squirtle, Psyduck, Sobble, and Quaxly.
- Grassy and Pretty Nice Grassy Yarns: Bulbasaur, Jumpluff, Grookey, and Sprigatito.
- Sparky and Pretty Nice Sparky Yarns: Pikachu, Plusle, Minun, and Pawmi.
- Hardy and Pretty Nice Hardy Yarns: Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Arcanine, Larvitar, Metagross, and Lucario.
- Toothy and Pretty Nice Toothy Yarns: Garchomp, Goodra, Stretchy Form Tatsugiri, Droopy Form Tatsugiri, and Curly Form Tatsugiri.
Plush Room
As I mentioned earlier, this is your own little space to decorate with your favorite plushies like Pikachu, Charizard, and many others. As you unlock new furniture, you can arrange them however you like, even rotating the plushies to show them at different angles.

That said, if you ever place something by mistake, you can just hold the Rewind button to move it back. And when you want to clear things up, the Tidy Up button lets you put away any plush or furniture, either by selecting them or simply dragging them over to the button.
Quests

In this game, you can find various quests to take on in the Quests from Townspeople section, which you unlock after progressing a bit. By completing these quests, your friends’ smiling faces show up on the town map, and it also rewards you with new furniture to decorate your place.
Puzzle Challenges
I love the puzzle challenges in the game, and you get 80 seconds to complete them. There are a lot of different ones available, like:
- Hopping Hurdles: Here, you’ve to jump over walls to reach your goal.
- Secret Stone: Your goal is to fill in holes to complete the picture.
- Pattern Path: You’ve to maintain the red-red-blue pattern.
- Don’t slip up, Piplup: You can slide across the ice to reach the goal.
- Find the Froakie!: Here, you’ve to find how many Froakies there are.
- Tandemaus Teamwork: To reach the goal, you’re required to move in tandem.
- Lotad’s Ferry Service: You can enjoy riding on the Lotad to reach your goal.
- Shine on Cherrim: Your objective is to help the light reach Cherrim.

Now, these are some of the challenges you can enjoy clearing in the game to obtain more yarn. As you progress, you’ll unlock more exciting and challenging ones, keeping you engaged. Plus, the puzzle levels also increase, and you’re required to clear more stages of a particular puzzle challenge.
Catalog

In the Catalog section, you can check out all the plushies you’ve created along with their details. Once you’ve crafted a Plush for the first time, you can easily make it again by using just two balls of yarn.
Shop

It also features an in-game Shop with bundles and packs. For instance, the Combo Bundle includes a Basic Pack along with Puzzle On! Pack #1 and #2. Then there’s the Basic Pack, which removes the daily limit, letting you play puzzles as much as you want. You can also buy the Puzzle On! packs separately.
Pokémon Friends Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks
1. Master the different Puzzle challenges

With a variety of puzzle challenges, each with unique mechanics or goals like Hopping Hurdles, Secret Stone, and Pattern Path, you need to spend more time practicing older puzzles in the calendar. By doing this, you not only sharpen your skills, but this way you can also clear tougher stages in the future.
2. Take on Townspeople’s quests
Helping the townspeople not only increases your friendship level, but it also rewards you with new furniture and unlocks more quests. So, you should try to complete them regularly, to keep your townspeople happier, and also get more customization options for your Plush Room.
3. Mix Gifting and Decorating

Here, you don’t need to keep every plushie in your room, and gifting them to the townspeople is a great way to strengthen your bonds while also freeing up space to put your favorite Pokémon plushies. So, I suggest you keep a balance between showcasing your favorite ones and keeping your friends happy.
4. Keep an eye on the puzzle timer
While clearing the puzzles, you must be wary of the timer, which provides you only 80 seconds to clear them. Some challenges like Don’t slip up, Piplup or Find the Froakie! It can waste a lot of time if you’re not properly focused. Practice them more to avoid such situations.
5. Don’t just rush towards Progression
Instead of simply rushing to clear the puzzles only, you can also spend more time decorating your room, gifting plushies, and even replaying challenges. This way, the game won’t feel repetitive to you, and you can also enjoy everything it has to offer.
Final Thoughts
Pokémon Friends is a fun title with over 1,200 puzzle challenges that keep you engaged. The main gameplay revolves around clearing the diverse challenges and unlocking new yarns to obtain Pokémon Plushies. After that, you can either add them to your Plushie room or gift them to the townspeople.
As you advance, the daily puzzles can get more challenging. But don’t worry, by following the valuable insights and useful tips shared here, you can have a smooth and rewarding gameplay experience in Pokémon Friends.
