- Beatstar and Country Star will officially shut down on October 31, 2025, after four years of live service.
- All purchases outside of in-game currency have been disabled, with refunds available for transactions.
Beatstar and Country Star, two of the most beloved music rhythm games, are set to shut down permanently on October 31, 2025. After four years of creating memorable experiences for players worldwide, the servers will be closed.
Events and season passes have been extended until shut down of Beatstar and Country Star
The developers shared that while you can still enjoy your purchased content until shutdown, new purchases with real money are no longer available. Refunds are being offered for recent purchases made between July 18 and August 18, 2025, and players can request them through the in-game support portal.
It is with great sadness that we have made the tough decision to stop development on Beatstar as of October 31 2025.
We’d like to take a moment to thank you all for an amazing 4 years. Thank you for sharing your feedback, your fun ideas, song and artist suggestions and… pic.twitter.com/c6SmXPeSC6

To keep things fun until the very end, the team has updated events, rewards, and progression to make it easier to unlock songs and enjoy everything the games still have to offer. This shutdown comes shortly after Duolingo acquired Nextbeat, the studio that had earlier spun out of Space Ape Games.
Beatstar rose to popularity for its addictive rhythm gameplay, where you tapped along to chart-topping hits, while Country Star brought the same energy with a focus on country music. Both titles built passionate communities, and over the years, they became standout names in the music gaming scene.
Sadly, Nextbeat confirmed that there are no plans to revive the games or develop new music games in the future. For now, the servers and official Discord will remain open until closure. At the time of writing, the store pages of both titles have been removed, so you can’t download the game anymore.
