

When it comes to an anime that I believe deserves to have its game adaptation, Chainsaw Man forces its way into my head. This horror manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto came out in 2022 after its long-awaited debut, and it is safe to say it was worth the wait. And so, I believe it’s high time this brutal love letter to chaos, loss, and the desire to live a normal life in a devil-ridden world gets its own game.
And while console fans might dream of a full AAA treatment, I’m here to say: Chainsaw Man needs a mobile RPG, and we need it now.

It peels back layers of trauma, desire, and purpose, as Denji fights devils not just to survive, but to experience simple pleasures, like toast with jam or a warm hug. And the cast around him, Power, Aki, Himeno, Kobeni, and Makima, each bring unique perspectives, traumas, and devil powers to the mix, creating an ensemble of deeply flawed but unforgettable characters.
It has the markings for a fast-paced, action-heavy RPG
I like to imagine Chainsaw Man as a real-time action RPG where I hack through devil mobs with Denji’s chainsaws, while switching between allies like Power and Aki for tactical advantage. Each character could come with their devil contract mechanics, like Aki with the Fox and Curse Devil, Power with her blood manipulation, and Makima with… well, let’s just say a mysterious skillset I unlock later (Yes, no spoilers here).
The gameplay loop could be mission-based, sending my squad into devil-infested zones across Japan. And the Boss fights would be cinematic, intense, and full of quick-time events. Think NieR Re[in]carnation combat meets Punishing: Gray Raven’s mobility and flash, that would be awesome, right?
The stakes could be personal, with permadeath to add intensity to my gameplay, or consequence-based decisions adding weight to missions. With timeless content for high replayability, a story-driven campaign, and gacha mechanics done right, this mobile RPG could be the next big thing!
How the art style and visuals for a Chainsaw Man game could look like
A strong visual comparison would be Punishing: Gray Raven, a mobile action RPG that blends sleek anime-style characters with grim, dystopian environments and dramatic combat visuals. And by channeling that same level of visual punch and twisted beauty, a Chainsaw Man mobile RPG could make every devil fight feel both horrifying and cinematic.
I would love to see blood-slicked arenas, glitchy distortion effects when devils appear, and brutal takedowns punctuated by red-screen slashes or Chainsaw burst attacks. Chainsaw Man’s art style is sharp, edgy, and unafraid to be messy, which is perfect for a game that thrives on a unique aesthetic identity.

A mobile adaptation could go two ways visually: anime-style cel-shading, capturing the manga’s quirky rawness, or gritty 2.5D graphics with textured animation for a darker tone. Either way, I want it to feel as edgy and unique as the source material to get a full immersive experience. And the devil designs would be one of the franchise’s highlights.
From the grotesque Bat Devil to the horrifying Gun Devil, the visuals in a mobile game would need to double down on their monstrous creativity. The game should make devils feel terrifying, twisted, and larger than life, hence emphasizing their symbolic nature tied to fears like guns, eternity, or darkness. Stylish UI, blood-splattered transitions, and unique attack animations would elevate the experience, giving me the sense that I’m truly in a devil-infested Tokyo.
Beloved characters that could shine in a Chainsaw Man Game
The biggest draw for me would be building my dream team. While Denji may be the heart of Chainsaw Man, the supporting cast is part of what keeps the engine running. So, a gacha system where I could unlock characters across different arcs, such as Division 4 members, devil hybrids like Reze or Quanxi, and even devil-only forms like the Darkness Devil or Future Devil would be awesome.

Each character could bring synergy-based skills, combo attacks, and unique roles like tank, DPS, or support. Aki could debuff enemies with his cursed sword, while Himeno’s Ghost Devil arm could be used for stealth kills or special counters.
Power would be a wild AoE attacker with self-heal from blood, and Makima? Well, her true role could only be unlocked in the post-story mode after I finish the campaign. Also, seasonal events could introduce characters from Chainsaw Man Part 2, like Asa Mitaka and the War Devil, bringing new storylines and gameplay shifts.
Why a Chainsaw Man game will be great for mobile
Chainsaw Man is already a phenomenon, with fans across manga, anime, and social media. A mobile game is the next logical step, and not just for the IP’s growth, but because the medium fits the story’s chaotic brilliance. The fragmented, mission-based structure works well for mobile play sessions.
And gacha elements tie in naturally with its large and ever-growing character list. But the narrative possibilities are the crucifix, as it offers a treasure trove of emotional and visual content for players who love story-driven RPGs.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or someone looking for a bloody good time, a Chainsaw Man mobile RPG could be the perfect blend of style, chaos, and storytelling, fueled by action, devils, and chainsaws. So, let’s cross our fingers and hope one day it becomes a reality.
