- Let us learn how to earn over 10,000 Free Gems per year in Clash of Clans.
Getting free gems is surely everyone’s dream, and we wish we had a lot of gems in our Clash of Clans accounts. Many players overlook just how many free gems they can earn over time without spending real money or relying on Achievements. Let’s find out how you can collect over 10,000 gems every year just by playing the game regularly.
This guide is based on an incredibly helpful breakdown originally shared in a Reddit post. The numbers are calculated based on consistent daily activity and exclude gem rewards from Achievements, Events, Supercell Store perks, and Tournaments.
How to earn over 10,000 Free Gems per year in Clash of Clans
Here’s a complete breakdown of the steps and calculations.
Earning Gems from Obstacles
In your home village, obstacles like trees, mushrooms, and trunks regenerate over time. On average, every obstacle provides about 2.5 gems. With around 6 obstacles spawning daily, including the bonus builder base spawns, that adds up to about 15 gems per day.
Multiply that over a year, and you’re looking at around 5,478 gems annually just by clearing obstacles daily.
Gems obtained from Clan Games
Each month, Clan Games offer tiers of rewards. Even if you don’t keep the magic items and instead convert them into gems, the total can go quite high.

Across all six tiers, the average gem value comes out to about 300 gems per month, including the extra reward slot. Over the course of a year, that’s 3,600 gems from Clan Games alone. Again, this is something that comes at a cost of sacrifising other rewards.
Seasonal Challenge Rewards
Even if you don’t buy the Gold Pass, free-tier Seasonal Challenges give out plenty of magic items. By converting things like Books, except the Book of Building, which you might want to keep for Lab upgrades and Potions, excluding Builder and Research Potions, you can earn about 120 gems per season. That brings you to 1,440 gems per year from the free track of the Seasonal Challenges.
Gem Mine from the Builder Base
If your Gem Mine is maxed and you use your Clock Tower boost every day, you can earn around 6 gems per day, 5 from natural production and 1 extra from the boost.

Over the course of a year, that adds up to approximately 2,192 gems annually. As per calculations, without using the Clock Tower boost, you’d only earn about 1,825 gems per year, meaning you’d miss out on around 367 gems every year, so yeah, you know what to do.
Getting Gems from Gem Boxes
Although not very consistent, Gem Boxes spawn occasionally and each gives 25 gems. If we are calculating a rate of 2 boxes per month, you’ll earn about 600 gems per year. While they might not show up often, it’s still a nice bonus whenever they do.
So the final count table looks like this:
Source | Estimated Gems/Year |
---|---|
Obstacles | 5,478 |
Clan Games | 3,600 |
Seasonal Challenges | 1,440 |
Gem Mine (with boost) | 2,192 |
Gem Boxes | 600 |
Total | 13,310 |
That’s over 13,000 gems per year from consistent gameplay without touching special events, Achievements, or spending real money.
Optional Methods for More Gems
If you really want to earn even more gems, there are a few extra methods, but they take more effort and may not be worth it for everyone. But it does take your count over 15,000 coins.
Clan War League Medals
In Clan War Leagues, you earn medals based on your league and how well your clan performs. You can use these medals to buy Resource Potions for 5 medals each. Then, you can sell those potions for 10 gems each.

For example, if you’re in Crystal III and your clan places 4th, you might get about 250 medals per month, which means around 500 gems monthly, or 6,000 gems per year. If you’re in a top league like Champion I, you can earn over 14,000 gems a year using this trick.
Trader and Raid Medals
You can also spend Raid Medals at the Trader to buy magic items and then sell those items for gems. But this depends on what the Trader offers and what you choose to buy.
Most players prefer to use Raid Medals for helpful items like Research Potions, so how many gems you get from this will vary from player to player.
