Delta Force Review: The next big thing in Mobile Gaming

In the world of first-person tactical shooter games, the addition of Delta Force came like a fresh breeze. A game with two brand new game modes and an upcoming story mode. Sounds very exciting, right? I also thought the same while playing the game during its closed beta.

A game with this much smoothness and optimization in its CBT phase made my expectations soar high in the sky. But after the global launch, the story is quite different. And, I am writing this review after playing Delta Force for more than 30+ hours on a Xiaomi Note 9 Pro Plus device. After playing it for a long time, I think it is the perfect time to share my two cents on this title. So let’s get straight into it!

Delta Force could have finally broken the Battle Royale bubble

As of now, all the renowned shooting games are always targeted at catering to the players who love to play battle royale games. The top names are PUBG Mobile, FreeFire, and Fortnite Mobile. It was becoming very boring.

Now, with the inclusion of Delta Force, that Battle Royale fever is finally going to decrease. Delta Force’s two unique game modes, Warfare and Operations, have that X-factor that can pull players from other titles to it.

Initial experience can be a little overwhelming for new players

How much is too much? This was the exact question that came into my mind when I first opened the Black Site section in Delta Force. Ten playable in-game characters and seven different Maps in the beta version!

This single fact was enough to blow my mind. In many established games, we often see that they only have 3-4 maps in total. You can play Warfare mode in various maps, which gives a total PC like experience.

Not only maps and operators, but also the collection of weapons and the attachable equipment is massive. This is where the aforementioned question came into my mind. Will these items and resources be too much for the players?

However, it will not be the same case for everyone, as many of us prefer to have a lot of options to choose from, so it can be subjective. Although multiple game modes keep the action fresh. Modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, and the other two main modes demand good coordination and tactical expertise.

Delta Force takes your gameplay experience to the next level

As I have already discussed, the optimization and smoothness make Delta Force one of the most fun games to play. The controls and switches feel very responsive. Movement and aiming are mostly accurate and on point. It is not that kind of game where you land, pick a gun, and go to fight. Every minute aspect matters in Delta Force. This makes every match more rewarding.

The overall gameplay experience is not like any other available mobile shooter titles, in my opinion. The way Delta Force tries to immerse you in the battlefield with the blend of graphics and sound, it feels like you are fighting against enemies in real life.

At this point, you may think I am exaggerating. I am not. With the amount of customization to a vast collection of weapons and operators, this game has all the necessary things to keep a gamer involved.

True console-quality graphics, on your mobile screen

One thing I must mention is the graphics of the game. The details in the maps and operator models make this game very appealing. Animations like reloading, throwing items, and using consumables bring the game to life. At first, I was amazed by the physical detailing of the in-game operators. Their faces, outfits, and equipment look so realistic.

At this point, if you are thinking that this much consistency would result in a very unstable performance, then you are wrong. On my Xiaomi Note 9 Pro Plus, it ran pretty smoothly with minor occasional frame drops during intense gunfights. It runs on most of the low-end devices and runs at 60 FPS on mid-end devices.

However, if you want a consistent performance with no frame-drop or overheating, I would suggest you to lower your graphics a bit. But do not worry, as these things are very unlikely to occur in the first place, thanks to the immensely powerful Unreal Engine 5, which played a crucial role in making the graphics better.

BGM places you straight on the battlegrounds, but UI puts off a little

In a game like Delta Force, every type of sound matters to excel on the battlefield. Be it the sound of an operator pulling the pin of their hand grenade or you are trying to hear the distant noise of an enemy surveillance drone, you can’t neglect any one of these sounds. Delta Force shone in this section as they carefully put every minute sound detail in their respective places.

From switch-toggle sound in the lobby to the voices of the operators, every sound effect feels natural to its core. Even the gunshots feel like they are being fired just in front of the player. However, to get the full immersive experience, I would suggest you use a good pair of headphones. It will not only make sure that you enjoy every sound masterclass of the game, but also help you in the battles.

Delta Force User Interface and Layout

Now let’s talk about the UI (User Interface) of Delta Force. To be very honest, I felt the UI could have been much simpler. At first, when I open the game, it greets me with a page where I have to choose the playing modes even before going to the lobby. Upon reaching the lobby, you get bombarded with options, which I have already discussed above.

I know that seasoned players or veterans would surely like this vast availability of options and features, but a new player, who just installed the game to have the thrilling experience of a PvP shooter, may find it hard to adapt. Although it is not very complicated but they surely could have thought about this matter.

But credit should be given where it’s due! I have no problem at all regarding the controls and layouts. The way these were well-planned and executed surely deserves praise. I felt no confusion regarding buttons while getting into fights. The special buttons for main abilities and traits are also very easy to master and fun to use. The joystick doesn’t feel rough to move, and the peek and open-scope buttons are also great.

IAPs do exist, but they won’t make you feel disappointed

Just like any other shooter title, Delta Force frequently adds multiple weapon finishes and bundles. Along with these, we also get a Battle Pass in each season. This pass offers us several rewards, weapons, equipment, and operator modules. The usual costing starts from $0.69 and ends at $103.10.

In the in-game shop, we can see multiple Delta Coin bundles that can be purchased with real money. You can also purchase these coins from third-party platforms. Delta Force also offers us many large bundles with generous bonus amounts. In my opinion, it is great for players who want to make a strategic purchase. For example, in a 6480 coin pack, we may get an extra 1620 coins.

The Battle Pass system is also good in Delta Force. We usually see more than one Battle Pass in the game. One of them is the Collab season pass, which will cost you $7.80. The normal Battle Pass usually costs 360 Battle Coins. To purchase it, you will have to spend around $4.25. Which is pretty reasonable. However, I think the in-game shop interface could be improved as a new player may find it complex.

Delta Force has the potential to become a giant in Mobile Esports

Mobile esports was lacking a good and attractive shooter title for a very long time. Usually, the esports scene is always filled with BR games. There is an addressable player base that is actively looking for new options. Delta Force can be that missing piece of the puzzle. However, the road will not be that smooth. The arrival of Valorant Mobile and the legacy of other mobile titles will surely give it a hard competition.

Final Verdict

The way Delta Force is operating right now is very promising. If they continue it, their existing issues will disappear in no time. But once again, focus on ‘if‘. Previously, we have seen multiple titles, which are even bigger and much more hyped up than Delta Force, that could not survive and went into the darkness of discontinuation.

Now it is up to the developers how they want to proceed with it. Games like Delta Force have a high probability of getting bombarded by cheaters. It is one of the reasons why Delta Force can struggle in the long run. Otherwise, I see no obstacles nearby as of now.
