Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd. has revealed its new match-3 puzzle title, Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch, set to launch on both Android and iOS this year. It is currently in development and is being co-developed by Metafield Inc. and Studio Inc., subsidiaries of Tsuburaya Fields Holdings Group.

Relive Ultraman’s charm through match-3 puzzle-based gameplay

Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch is a match-3 puzzle title created as part of the Ultra Series 60th Anniversary Project. The goal is to celebrate the legacy of Ultraman while also introducing it to the new generation. This project also includes a new TV series, live stage shows, and more.

As someone who grew up watching Ultraman and even had a toy, I’m excited for this one. Even though it’s a match-3 puzzle title, it features Ultra Heroes and Monsters from every era, right from Showa to Reiwa, which makes it worth checking out, according to me.

Over 60 heroes and kaiju from different eras await you

The game is set on planet Milanos, far out in space, and will let you unlock or encounter over 60 characters. You’ll get to collect fan-favorite Ultra heroes like Ultraman, Ultraman Tiga Multi Type, Ultra Seven, along with iconic Kaijus like Alien Baltan, Gomorrah, Zetton, and more.

While I can’t fully judge the game yet, it aims to reach a wider audience through its accessible match-3 puzzle gameplay. That said, I do believe another genre might have suited this iconic IP better, but I’m curious to see what the devs are cooking for us.

Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch is set to launch worldwide on both Android and iOS this year. However, it won’t be available in mainland China or EU member countries, and an exact launch date hasn’t been announced yet. Check out the official website for more details.
