Wild Rift Patch 6.2 Update: New Champion releases and reworks

Aurora

To kick off Wild Rift’s Patch 6.2, Aurora will be the newest champion joining the rift on July 17th. The new mage champion, Aurora, also known as the Witch between Worlds is a powerful mid laner with high burst and mobility abilities.

This is so since her abilities allow her to move freely between the Spirit and the material realms, granting her brief invincibility allowing her to assassinate and ambush unsuspecting enemies.

Bard

Another champion hero who will debut in Wild Rift Patch 6.2 is Bard. Known as The Wandering Caretaker, he is a roam champion with powerful skill sets that allow him to create portals that can seamlessly transport him and his allies across the map. Bard can also use his powerful ultimate move to freeze both himself and all the champions around him.

This ultimate ability can be useful as both an offensive and defensive ability. If this ability is used near enemies, it can freeze them just in time for your team to burst them down. If used beside your teammates, it can help buy time while nullifying all incoming damage and control effects from enemies.

Vel’Koz

Also known as the Eye of the Void, Vel’koz is the 3rd champion that will debut in Wild Rift’s Patch 6.2 update. Vel’Koz is a mage champion who excels at dealing burst magic damage to enemies from deep behind the backlines.

Champion Reworks

Galio

The developers are hoping to make Galio a bit more reliable as a tanky protective champion rather than a burst damage-oriented champion. To this end, the devs will be tweaking Galio’s second skill, Shield of Durand, amongst others, to promote tanky items and builds rather than damage items on Galio.

Swain

The devs will be unlocking Swain’s full potential by blessing the champion with lots of buffs geared at amping his damage output.

The devs will also be refining and buffing some of our beloved critical-based marksman champions like Varus, Ashe, Zero, Vayne, and Miss Fortune.

Item adjustments and additions

The devs also highlighted a few extra adjustments or additions to the Wild Rift’s Item build roster. They are as follows:

  • Bloodthirster: This item will now grant extra sustain and extra survivability allowing champions to last long during teamfights.
  • Infinity Edge: This item has been adjusted to be a viable item for critical-based marksman heroes.
  • Essence Reaver: This item will now provide extra burst and movement speed after each hit.
  • Soul Transfer: This is a newly added item that will further boost the offensive capabilities of marksman champions against enemy front liners. Since the new Soul Transfer item will mirror each critical attack, granting extra damage source to melt down enemies.

Gameplay Changes

The Devs will be introducing some fun new additions to the Rift:

  • The Devs will also be refining the brush layout around the dragon pit, providing a clearer vision of the Rift.
  • The Devs will be introducing exciting Easter egg rewards into the Rift battlefield. Now, players can be rewarded with extra Gold for ingenious plays like smart Ward placement amongst others.
  • The Devs aim to boost the early game pacing. Therefore, turret platings will now come off as soon as the first Elemental Drake spawns. Epic monsters like Baron will also spawn faster now.
  • The Devs will also be fine-tuning the entire Enchantment system. This will allow you to easily choose the Enchantment that best fits your role and play style.
