Dunk City Dynasty, a collaboration between Exptional Global and NetEase Games, offers a captivating mobile gaming experience, featuring a variety of popular basketball players from the real world. In the article, I’ve discussed the game’s major highlights and the low ends it leaves for its players.
As a continuation of the trend of casual sports games that are now being taken seriously, this game comes with high expectations, especially with the presence of NBA stars such as Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the ranks of playable players. After spending dozens of hours playing on my Android device, the Samsung M23 5G, here is my complete review of Dunk City Dynasty.
Hit the Court with a roster full of NBA Stars
Let’s start the Dunk City Dynasty review with its long roster of players. This game has an official license from the NBA and NBPA, so you can immediately play as your favorite NBA star. Starting from agile playmakers like Luka Doncic, to tough big men like Nikola Jokic, all can be played.

Each player also has a unique playing style and skills that make the playing experience feel more authentic. Additionally, Dunk City Dynasty provides a Closet feature, which is for those of you who like to customize your character.

Starting from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet is also available in this game. However, the downside is that these Costume parts bring attribute bonuses that affect the players. This makes F2P players lose in terms of their character attributes. Even so, the most important thing in this game is the Skill.
Experience proper street-style basketball action across several game modes
Dunk City Dynasty offers various game modes with their own playing styles and rules. So far, there are four 3v3 version modes, such as 11 Point, Dynasty, Ranked, Classic, and one 5v5 version mode.

If you want to play with your friends, the choice is 11-Point 3v3 with 1 player holding 1 character. However, if you want to control all the players yourself, you can play Dynasty or even 5v5 Full Court Run. In 5v5 mode, the rules are like real basketball and provide a more strategic and in-depth basketball game feel.
Slam dunk your way through the streets in stunning visuals
Unlike other sports games, Dunk City Dynasty provides street art style visuals, because what is highlighted in this game is the 3v3 game mode, which is famous for its Streetball style. The animation of the characters is also very expressive, with additional visual effects that make it look satisfying, especially when scoring points and doing slam dunks.

While playing on the Samsung M23 5G, which is a Smartphone released a while ago, Dunk City Dynasty runs smoothly without any problems. The framerate is stable at 48-58 without any significant drops with Medium graphic settings. Although the match-making in this game is quite long, it can be up to 20-30 seconds, the rest is quite good.
The game offers smooth controls along with some complex mechanics
The most noticeable thing when playing this game is the responsive control and smooth animation without any breaks in each motion. The movements are very dynamic, from the way the characters do lay-ups, crossovers, to slam dunks.

We admit that the mechanics are very complex, but that’s what makes this game exciting. Each player has their unique skills and movements, which, if you don’t explore and practice, you may not be aware of. However, Dunk City Dynasty offers a practice mode for those who want to learn in-depth about the game’s mechanics.
I recommend going to Free Practice mode, because there you can use all the characters you have, and the developer has also provided a combination of movements that you can learn, that’s what is a plus point.
IAPs do have an incentive, but not a major advantage
Dunk City Dynasty offers a Premium Battle Pass that can get a Massive amount of diamonds, costumes, and other materials. Even so, without buying premium, it already offers rewards that we think are enough for you, F2P, to develop your account or character.

Although Dunk City Dynasty offers many premium items through in-app purchases, the game is still friendly for free-to-play players. You can still enjoy steady progress without having to spend money, especially by completing quests, events, and the Party Manual. However, some features, such as supply crates to get Elite and Superstar Players or exclusive costumes, are indeed easier to access with paid Diamonds.
What about player training? It doesn’t require spending money to do it. The materials needed are not that difficult to get, because the materials needed, such as Energy Drink and Enhance Card, can be purchased with gold coins, not materials that require real money.
Final Verdict
Dunk City Dynasty successfully combines the feel of streetball with an authentic NBA atmosphere. With exciting gameplay, lots of customization content, and an official NBA license, this game is worth a try for both casual and competitive basketball lovers. Although some online aspects can still be improved, NetEase has succeeded in presenting an addictive and stylish sports game.
