- eFootball is set to bring a Retro Mode, with pixelated visuals and legacy teams.
- Gameplay environment replicates early PES/Winning Eleven with old-school charm.
- Expected to launch around July 21 to mark eFootball’s 30th anniversary.
To celebrate 30 years of the franchise, eFootball 2025 will feature a limited-time Retro Mode that brings back the classic vibes of the original titles. Let us dig into the details and see what’s in store for us players.
According to the post, this mode will likely be an online event, much like past thematic offerings such as the Captain Tsubasa and Strike Arena events. While not many official details have been confirmed, we do get to see the gameplay of the same.
A match between the legacy teams, namely WE United and EFB United, is showcased, and from the environment, you can see it is indeed ‘retro’. The visuals are intentionally pixelated, from the stadium design to the crowd effects.
This replicates the simple crowd models from the old Winning Eleven and PES days. Even you can see the net and pitch are old, physics is somewhat the same. I would have loved the commentary to be retro, too, but maybe I am expecting too much. For player cards, this would also be nice to have some legends featured in the old style.
This limited-time mode is expected to arrive around July 21, 2025, which marks the official anniversary of the series. There have been instances where the campaign has kicked off early, so we’ll get to see the details of it pretty soon.
