  • Aniimo is a free-to-play open-world action RPG with creature-catching and merging mechanics.
  • The game features a unique ‘Twining’ system where players merge with their Aniimo to unlock new abilities.
  • A PC-exclusive closed beta will run for 7 days, with sign-ups now open on the official website.

Creature catching got a lot more interesting as Aniimo, a brand-new free-to-play open world action RPG, has just been revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase on 8th June, 2025. Aniimo will be a free-to-play title and is set to launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and mobile platforms.

Developed by Pawprint Studio and published by FunPlus under their Kingsglory label, Aniimo promises a fresh adventure filled with magical creatures, exploration, and a unique gameplay twist called Twining.

Set in the visually stunning world of Idyll, Aniimo brings amazing visuals and presentation to the mix

In Aniimo, you’ll set out into the vibrant world of Idyll, a land full of mysterious ruins, evolving environments, and creatures known as Aniimo. These aren’t just collectible companions, each Aniimo can grow, evolve, and be researched to unlock deeper potential. Emberpup, Budclaw, and Otti are a few of these Aniimo’s you can remember before jumping to the gameplay.

But what makes the gameplay stand out is the Twining mechanic. You won’t just fight alongside your Aniimo, you’ll merge with them. Twining allows you to take on new perspectives, gain different abilities, and change how you interact with the world.

Going by the visuals in the announcement trailer, the overall setting is absolutely breathtaking. While the cinematics are top-tier, even the gameplay seems packed with high-end graphics, environments are rich with detail, crisp animations, and a visually heavy world.

With that kind of presentation, it’s fair to expect that the recommended specs, especially for mobile, will be on the higher side. Players using mid-range or older phones might need to tweak settings or even consider an upgrade to enjoy it the way it’s meant to be experienced.

The creature exploration games are now slowly picking up pace, following the success of Palworld. With KRAFTON working on the mobile version as we write, we fans surely will get to enjoy more titles.

With the release planned in 2026, a PC-exclusive 7-day closed beta test has been announced, and it will get us the first look at the gameplay elements. Pre-registration for Aniimo via email for PC, Xbox, and Mobile is also possible via the official website so head over to the site and check the details.
