Fortnite gets new skins with most updates, but even with things cycling in and out of the item shop, we don’t always get old ones back, like the Fortnite Street Fighter skins. They’ve not been seen in nearly 3 years. Chun-Li, Ryu, Guille, and the other outfits seem to be vaulted permanently. Are they coming back at any point?
At the moment, Fortnite Street Fighter skins are some of the collabs that we just don’t see anymore. They became quite popular. With some of them being seen loads and thought of as some of the best Fortnite skins. It’s even a franchise that has had multiple waves, but since the release of Street Fighter 6, it has completely slowed down. We can make some educated guesses about why they’ve been missing from the item shop for a few years.

Street Fighter Skins Returning Soon
A new Fortnite update means we might see the skins coming back! The shop tab has files which lists potential segments. When an older skin is being updated to bring it back to the game, the shop tab for it changes. We saw this with the return of Psycho Bandit, and now another rare Fortnite skin is getting it. All the Street Fighter Fortnite skins could come back.
This new update means we could see them drop at any moment! While players have been awaiting their return for a while, it isn’t the biggest surprise. Players likely saw the new Overwatch SF skins, which indicates Capcom is back doing these kinds of collabs. Which opened the door for the Fortnite skins to come back!
It looks like these could drop at any moment now. So, players will have to keep an eye on the item shop rotation to see if they come back. There’s no sign of new Street Fighter Fortnite skins so far, but it would be cool to see the Street Fighter 6 designs come to the game eventually.
Fortnite Street Fighter Skins Missing for Years
Fortnite X Street Fighter is definitely one of the more popular collaborations they’ve held over Chapter 2, but they were last seen in August 2022. Now, this has become a bit of a mystery. On the one hand, collab skins come and go a lot since they depend on their rights holder’s permission. However, Capcom has done other Fortnite collabs in the years since they went missing.
If these skins were being deliberately held back by Epic because of Capcom’s approach to Fortnite as a whole, it’s unlikely they would be making even more Resident Evil skins. One theory involved Street Fighter 6. Which has been the biggest fighting game of the last few years.
When the skins first released, SF hadn’t released a new title in a little while. However, now 6 is out and has its own cosmetics to sell. The plan to promote the franchise might be different now. They could view Fortnite skins as cutting into their own title’s in-game purchases. Although existing in different genres, it seems unlikely.
Since Epic and Capcom still seem to have a solid relationship with each other for creating skins, we can probably rule out it that being due to the license holding withdrawing permission, like with Travis Scott.

When Will They Be Back?
The big question is when will all this be back in the Fortnite items shop, all the Street Fighter skins you see in lobbies? We can’t say for certain, essentially. It’s been a bit of a surprise that they’ve been kept out this long. But with the item shop updated, they can come back at any time now.
It’s possible that they’ll be back at any point since they’re a collab that could potentially return. However, with them being missing for so long, we can probably expect a bit of build-up. If they’re due to return, we might hear about it in Fortnite leaks before it shows up in the game itself. Hopefully, 2025 is finally the year they come back to the game.
