Fortnite has tons of error messages, it’s never a great sign to see one pop up. Quite a few of them though are fairly easily solved and you can get back into lobbies pretty quickly, what about the Fortnite Error ESP-DIST-001? The most common error messages tend to be a bit simpler, like Matchmaking error 1, or 2. What about this long list of letters and numbers though?
Each of these error codes actually let you know what exactly has gone wrong! If you know what your error is, then you can easily track down how to fix it. Provided the error isn’t on the Fortnite servers as a whole that is. This is how you can fix the Fortnite Error esp-dist-001 problem with the current build of the game:

What is Fortnite Error ESP-DIST-001?
The Error ESP-DIST-001 is becoming a really commonly found problem. In the Galactic Battle season, players have been running into it regularly. ESP errors aren’t all that strange though, they also have nothing to do with telekinesis powers. It’s close to a matchmaking error. A lot of players have found it’s an error with their Cache. Older update data being in your Cache, which causes problems with the new update.
Thankfully it does seem quite simple to fix! Although, the instructions are a little different depending on what platform you’re on:
How to Fix it on PlayStation:
- Turn of your PlayStation
- Power it back on in Safe mode by holding the power button until it beeps twice
- Plug in your controller and press the PS button
- Select Clear Cache and Rebuild Database
- Then Clear System Software Cache
- Once the console restarts, open Fortnite
How to Fix Fortnite Error ESP-DIST-001 on Xbox
- Turn the Xbox
- Unplug everything for a few minutes
- Press and hold the power button
- Plug the power chord back in
- Power it on and start Fortnite
Nintendo Switch
- Open System settings
- Then system, then formatting options
- Select Reset Cache
- Follow the instructions then log back into Fortnite
That’s how you can fix it on console, on PC you just need to delete the folder for the cache for the game. It’s a lot simpler there, but the Fortnite Error ESP-DIST-001 is much more common on console anyway. Hopefully, with the next Fortnite update this bug stops occurring so often.
