Open Drive redefines mobile racing and driving with eye movement controls, set to launch this Summer

Open Drive Upcoming Launch Cover
  • Open Drive is an open-world driving game built for accessibility, featuring mobile-friendly eye control support.
  • The game includes multiple input options, 4 worlds, 3 vehicles, adjustable gameplay, and more.
  • The game auto-detects your input, whether switches, mouse and keyboard, controller, or touchscreen and adjusts controls accordingly.

SpecialEffect has announced its eye gaze accessible open-world driving game, Open Drive, which is scheduled to launch on both Android and iOS this Summer of 2025. Co-developed with Sun & Moon Studios, it supports accessibility features like Assistive Touch on iOS and Switch Access on Android.

Open Drive will let you drive around using eye control support

Open Drive is an open-world driving and racing title designed with accessibility in mind, featuring mobile-specific eye control support. Using a compatible eye gaze camera, you can steer your vehicles simply by looking left or right to collect orbs, make jumps, beat high scores, and explore various worlds.

I believe this is a great step forward for accessibility, especially for gamers with physical challenges who struggle with the traditional controls. That said, this title is not limited to eye tracking, as you can also play using accessibility switches, MnK, controllers, and your mobile’s touchscreen.

You can adjust gameplay speed, and explore the worlds at your own pace

What’s even better is that the game automatically detects your input device and adjusts the control scheme, making it easier for you to dive in. Plus, if you’re just in the mood to explore without being competitive, you can adjust gameplay speed while roaming the Stunt, Speed, Snow and Meadow worlds.

With its inclusive design, broad input support, unique worlds, 3 vehicles, namely Roadster, Trickster and Speedster, and adjustable gameplay, Open Drive looks promising. Plus, the team plans to bring more of its games to mobile, including Mole Miners, the space racer EyeDrive, TD title Badger Badger, and more.

Open Drive is scheduled to launch on both Android and iOS this Summer. It also appears the game is available in early access on Android, available via the Google Play Store, seemingly without mobile-specific eye control support. Check their official website for more details!
