Minecraft and the NFL aren’t two names you’d expect to hear in the same sentence, but since yesterday (May 14), multiple NFL teams have posted Minecraft and video game-inspired reveals of their 2025 game schedule.
The cause of the Minecraft theming isn’t quite understood, but both the Indianapolis Colts and LA Chargers have decided to utilize one of the most-played video games in the world to advertise their upcoming schedule. Beyond this, other teams have taken to the trend, showcasing their schedule with video game-inspired reveal videos.

NFL Teams Turn to Video Games To Reveal Their 2025 Schedules
The most notable is the LA Chargers video, which made dedicated skits for each team, all in Minecraft. The video is super impressive, and we recommend checking it out.
According to Megan Julian, the Senior Director of Social and Digital at the Chargers, the video took around 500+ hours in-game to film, three to five meetings a week and was all made in-house.
In a now deleted announcement (probably because they released the Chargers had already revealed a far better Minecraft schedule video), the Indianapolis Colts also created a Minecraft Themed video.
But these two teams weren’t the only ones using video games as a way to showcase their schedule. The San Francisco 49ers’ reveal, entitled The Golden Trail, drew on imagery from The Oregon Trail and other classic games in its pixel art video.
And the Atlanta Falcons got in on the fun with their Atlanta Kart video, clearly inspired by Nintendo’s classic Mario Kart.
While obviously this is just harmless fun, we can’t help but feel that the fact so many of these reveals featured video games is also some kind of strange indicator of the sway that Millennials and Gen Z have behind the scenes at these organizations. Alternatively, NFL teams have decided that video games are the best way to get in touch with an increasingly younger audience which isn’t paying as much attention to sports as their predecessors (Frequent NFL watchers will remember the recent NFL on Nickelodeon broadcasts which incorporated popular cartoon characters into the games). Whatever the case, we like it, and want to see more.
