  • Despite a worldwide release on April 10, Black Beacon encountered persistent technical issues that affected players across all regions.
  • Chinese players who received generous apology rewards in contrast to global players who had received mundane rewards
  • Devs respond that all global players will now receive the same rewards distributed to Chinese players

Black Beacon recently found itself at the center of intense global backlash after players expressed outrage over uneven compensation following the game’s rocky launch in China. What began as a regional issue quickly escalated into a global crisis, pushing devs to issue a unified apology and updated compensation.

Black Beacon faced launch problems and received accusations of selective favouritism

As a Black Beacon player who endured its rocky global launch, I can’t ignore the glaring disparity in how different regions were treated. The game’s technical issues, login failures, black screens, and emulator problems affected everyone, yet the compensation was far from equal.

When the China server launched two weeks later and faced similar problems, Chinese players received a generous apology package: a 5-star character selector and 30 premium pulls, valid for 30 days. Meanwhile, global players got 30 standard pulls from a temporary code that expired in days, no selector, no premium currency, just a fraction of what China received.

The difference was stark, and the backlash was inevitable. The game’s Google Play rating plummeted below 2.0 stars, reflecting global frustration. Many players, myself included, felt like we were treated as beta testers, enduring the worst of the launch bugs only to watch another region get better rewards for the same issues.

The Community speaks — And the Devs respond to the outrage

Mingzhou Studio’s recent statement promises “unified compensation” moving forward, which is a step in the right direction. But after weeks of silence, trust is fragile. Some players remain skeptical, will future treatment truly be equal, or will regional favoritism creep back in?

One of the player’s comment read, “Honestly, I am not even bothered to go back to this game anymore. Optimization is bad then they give less reward for Global and take 2-3 weeks to correct their mistake. Sure never playing it again“, in response to the apology mail.

Although the negativity is justifiable, other players reacted positively, albeit a bit reluctantly. “I feel like too much damage has already been done to make a full recovery; however, I hope with this, the devs can at least stabilize and start improving going forward,” one of the commenters responded.

Black Beacon is a fantastic game at its core, with deep combat, stunning visuals, and a compelling story. That’s why this situation stings even more. Players shouldn’t have to fight for fair treatment, especially when loyalty should be rewarded, not taken for granted. The devs have a chance to make things right. Let’s hope they follow through—not just with words, but with actions that prove that we, the global players, matter just as much.
