There’s a portion of the gaming world who have been waiting with baited breath for Hollow Knight: Silksong, and now finally they have a solid date they can play the game with just one catch – they have to live in or travel to Melbourne, Australia to do it.
That’s right, Silksong, the highly anticipated sequel to 2017 Metroidvania hit Hollow Knight, is slated to be part of an exhibition in the Australian National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). Here’s what we know, and what it means about Hollow Knight: Silksong’s release date.

Silksong Will Be Playable In September at an Australian Museum
Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable by visitors to Melborne’s AMCI on Sep. 18, 2025, as part of an exhibit called Game Worlds.
As per AMCI: “Game Worlds transports you inside the levels of 30 unforgettable video games, from global blockbusters like World of Warcraft (Blizzard Entertainment) to pioneer of the life simulation genre The Sims (Electronic Arts) and Neopets (World of Neopia), and a highly anticipated Australian title for 2025”
Team Cherry is an Australia-based independent games studio, and the makers of Hollow Knight and its sequel Silksong. As leaked in a trailer for the exhibit, the previously mentioned “highly-ancitipated Australian title for 2025” is Silksong, where visitors will be able to fight several bosses and enjoy a portion of the game.
However, the fact the game is being showcased at a museum in September has led many to believe we may actually get our hands on the game before that point. With the game being revealed as a title on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 (A brief trailer of gameplay appeared during the console’s recent showcase), it’s thought we could see Silksong with a mid-summer release, potentially August.
Still, for starved fans, who have been waiting since 2017 for a sequel, any Hollow Knight news is good news.
