Brawl Stars has launched season 38, along with a limited-time event called the Battle For Katana Kingdom Event, now live in-game. This four-part event, first revealed in the April Brawl Talk, brings Wasabi Powers, special rewards, themed Skins, new game modes, and more. So, let’s dive in!
Battle for Katana Kingdom Event Overview
This event spans across four Chapters, with each phase of the event active for a week throughout the month. Each week, there will be new game modes like Samurai Smash and Oni Hunt, a new chapter in the manga, and more ways to get the Sushi Rolls, through which you get Wasabi Powers, cosmetics, and more.
The four chapters of the Battle for Katana Kingdom event are Way of the Wasabi, Rise of the Futomaki Five, The Taste of Vengeance, and The Final Cut.
Chapter 1: Way of the Wasabi
The first chapter, Way of the Wasabi, is currently live in-game, bringing Wasabi Powers and Sushi Rolls to the game. During the whole week, Double XP Weekend will also be active.

It also introduces the new PvPvE game mode, Samurai Smash, where you have to defeat the Samurai bots, with different attacks, and enemy Brawlers to claim their golden Daruma dolls. You can jump into either 3v3 or 5v5 matches and collect 50 or 100 Dolls to win the match.
Chapter 2: Rise of the Futomaki Five
The next chapter, Rise of the Futomaki Five, starts from May 8 and introduces the Mega Buffet, which is a fun, reskinned version of Mega Pig, along with Mastery Madness Weekend.

In Mega Buffet, you can team up with your Clubmates and win matches in different modes to fill the club’s win counter. By hitting the milestones, everyone in the club earns Sushi Rolls. You will get 4 Tickets per day, and any unused ones will stack.
To earn the rewards, you need to contribute at least 3 wins, and rewards can be claimed as soon as a milestone is reached. Unfortunately, top contributors won’t receive additional rewards, which is a bummer.
Chapter 3: The Taste of Vengeance
Chapter 4, The Taste of Vengeance, will be available from May 15 in-game, introducing the new Oni Hunt game mode, a chain of freebies, and Double XP Weekend. I am looking forward to this new game mode, which looks very fun.

In Oni Hunt, you team up with two other players to defeat the Hypercharged demon Kenji. But it’s not that easy, as he has different attacks, changes attack patterns, and comes back stronger every time you defeat him.
Each day, you will have to clear all 5 difficulty levels, Normal, Hard, Expert, Master, and Insane, to unlock 7 days’ worth of rewards, including Sushi Rolls at the last two difficulty levels. Like Showdown, make sure to keep at least one teammate survive, so the rest can respawn and fight back.
Chapter 4: The Final Cut
The final chapter of the event, called The Final Cut, begins on May 22 and will bring Daily Contests along with x2 Starr Drops. Each day, you choose between three game modes or maps, and compete on a 10-player leaderboard against other players who made the same choice.

You will get 4x Tickets each day to take part in the event, and the reward you receive depends on your rank in the leaderboard. The bad news is, if you are in the bottom two, you won’t get any reward for that particular day
Brawl Stars Battle for Katana Kingdom: Wasabi Powers, Skins, and more
Wasabi Powers
One of the main parts of the event is the introduction of Wasabi Powers, which unlock temporary abilities for Brawlers. If you remember the Angels vs Demons season from last year, we got similar temporary boosts in that event too, but this time, it is Brawler-specific.

What’s more impressive is that there are a total of 60 Wasabi Powers, which come in four rarities: 20 Hot, 15 Extra Hot, 15 Crazy Hot, and 10 Inferno Wasabi Powers. Once you unlock any one, it will automatically equip the specific Brawler in Wasabi modifier game modes.
Event-themed Skins
The game has introduced a set of Katana Kingdom skins, which are seasonal and only available during this event, and will return after a year. Moreover, if you manage to collect all 7 skins from the collection, you’ll unlock the special event Spray as a reward for completing the collection.

This Japanese-themed lineup includes Cursed Kenji, Tengu Angelo, Tanuki Sprout, Wanderer Gray, Shukuteki Tara, Shinobi Ash, and the new Brawl Pass skin, Kasa-obake Piper skins.
Sushi Rolls
In this event, Sushi Rolls act like special Starr Drops, and they’re your main way to earn event rewards throughout the entire event. Every time you slice open a Roll, you are guaranteed to get at least one reward. Plus, there’s a chance of the Roll to split into 1,2,4, or 8 Sushi pieces, giving more rewards.
You must be tempted to get as many Sushi Rolls as possible, considering it also fills up the Sushi Meter. Once the meter is full, you can unlock Cursed Kenji and the Oni Kenji Hypercharge skin for free, along with other rewards.
The good news is you can get a lot of Sushi Rolls for free through the Daily Win Rewards, Samurai Smash, the Club Event, special Oni Hunt Quests, Daily Contests, and through various freebies in the Shop. We can also expect Brawl Stars to reward us with additional free Sushi Rolls in the future.
