Garena Free Fire is gearing up for its much-anticipated OB49 update, and it promises some exciting changes for players. Not only are we getting a brand-new map, but we also have some significant updates regarding room cards. Here’s everything you need to know before the patch drops.
Everything we know so far about the Free Fire OB49 Update Features
1. Current Room Card System Getting Removed
According to a number of Free Fire creators, after the OB49 patch drops, you won’t need room cards anymore to make custom rooms. You can create your own matches without burning through your saved-up cards.

Right now, if you want to get a room card, it costs 100 diamonds in the store or you can grab one from the guild store. But after April 17, that’s all going away. We have suggested a few safe methods on how to get free diamonds in Free Fire here.
The daily missions that allow players to earn free room cards will also be removed after the OB49 update. This makes any existing room cards more valuable, as they’ll soon become rare. 2. New Type of Room Card in OB49 Update
There’s also a brand-new type of room card coming in OB49, something designed to give players a “unique experience.” No clear details yet on what that means—but the best part is everyone is getting one for free.

3. Solara Map in Free Fire OB49 Update
The update also introduces a new map called Solara, released as part of Free Fire‘s 8th anniversary. The uniqueness of this map is its tri-zonal layout—incorporating three different environments into one map. The gameplay will feature a futuristic tower zone, a mountainous landscape with special structures, and a desert-themed zone that’s reminiscent of the Kalahari map.
4. Free Fire OB49 Update Release Date
Before The OB49 releases, all the features will go live for testing in the OB49 Advance Server which expected to drop on May 5, 2025. While an official announcement from Garena is still pending, it’s anticipated that the server will be live for approximately two weeks, from May 5th to May 19th, 2025. Keep an eye on official Free Fire channels for the confirmed dates. The actual global update will drop soon after the advance server testing is concluded.
