The Fortnite Arcane skins are still one of the most talked about collabs we’ve ever seen in Battle Royale. A crossover with League of Legends, by way of the animated adaptation, Arcane has proved very popular. The skins originally released to promote the show. However, they’ve become a little controversial since, largely because players are increasingly frustrated by why they never come back.
All Fortnite collabs are different, and not all of them have the same conditions for returning to the game. We’ve seen that there’s very different approaches. From collabs that are clear to come back at any time, to others that appear once then basically vanish forever. The Arcane skins are some of the more complex. A rare collab we’ve gotten official confirmation of its status, and why it hasn’t been back.
While they haven’t been in the item shop for a while, players and fans speculating got the attention of plenty of people involved. Compared to most Fortnite crossovers, we actually know a lot more about when and why they can come back. With those behind the Fortnite Arcane skins discussing them going missing. What are the Fortnite Arcane skins and why are they such a big deal?

When Were the Fortnite Arcane Skins Last Back?
The big issue, was that a new final season of Arcane was on and players desperately wanted to see them again. Especially some very vocal players. However, they just weren’t turning up in the item shop. This got as far as a co-founder of Riot deciding to weigh in and explain what was happening.
It seems that Epic can’t freely bring back the Arcane skins, and Riot don’t see an advantage to promoting it right now. According to Fortnite leakers, a co-founder of Riot Games said: “It’s on us (that they don’t return). We only did it for the original launch of Arcane.”
It seems Riot aren’t interested in the skins coming back outside of that initial push to get people excited for Arcane launching.
Since they didn’t do this for the last season of Arcane, they might be gone for some time. This is always a possibility, especially with Gaming Legends skins. Some developers might see Fortnite as a good promotional tool, but then as competition once their promotional needs are met. It’s doubtful Fortnite and LoL are genuine competitors though, especially with Arcane being an adaptation. So, can they come back?
Can They Come Back?
As with anything in Fortnite, they theoretically can come back! Aside from exclusive skins, pretty much everything in the game can possibly return. Even controversial skins like Travis Scott has been confirmed to be a possibility once the rights holders give permission. It appears we’re in a similar situation with the Fortnite Arcane skins. They can come back, but right holders don’t want them to right now.
These skins are still generating an outsized amount of attention from the player base, so they could be back in the future. Hopefully, we eventually see them return, even if just for a few days to give those who missed them a chance to get involved.
