During the Tenchi Bridge Reconnaissance Mission, Naruto comes face-to-face with Orochimaru himself. Despite being in a weakened state, the diabolical villain has no problem pushing the Jinchuriki’s buttons, causing him to transform as Kurama’s chakra takes over.

Even in his Tailed Beast form, Orochimaru was able to toy with Naruto and show just how much power he wielded. Barring a Tailed Beast Bomb that could’ve killed the villain, Orochimaru displayed the gulf in their strength and made it clear why Sasuke chose him as his sensei.

In a bid to avenge Jiraiya’s death, Naruto trained at Mount Myoboku to master Sage Mode. He came back moments after Pain had used Shinra Tensei to level the entire village, causing him to rage as he took out Pain’s bodies one by one.

However, he was still caught off-guard by Yahiko’s body, placing him on the brink of defeat until Hinata came to save the love of her life. This caused Naruto to lose it as he was overwhelmed by stress, and he would’ve allowed Kurama to run rampant had it not been for a clever safeguard implemented by his father, the Fourth Hokage.

Gaara is one of the most fascinating characters in Naruto, being introduced as a psychotic brat who had faced a ton of trauma as a child. This caused him to walk down a lonely path and turned him into someone who had to be put in his place by Naruto.

Despite the protagonist goofing around in this fight at times, there were moments when Gaara overwhelmed Naruto and almost took him out. The protagonist had to damage himself by handing a powerful headbutt that knocked Gaara out and allowed him to win the battle.

Despite how powerful Naruto was, Momoshiki managed to catch the Hokage off guard by targeting innocents with his attack. This prompted Naruto to go all-out to help the village, making it easy for the Otsutsuki and his comrade to abduct the Seventh Hokage.

Naruto was captured as the Nine-Tails chakra was forcibly extracted from him, only for Sasuke and son to provide a valuable assist to free him. He eventually teamed up with his best friend and unleashed a hellish beatdown on Momoshiki, making him pay for his transgressions.

Itachi is one of the most powerful characters in Naruto who decided to gauge the protagonist’s loyalty toward his friend. He toyed with Naruto, trapping him in a genjutsu as he grilled him with statements that were meant to discern whether Naruto could be trusted to save Sasuke.

His answers satisfied Itachi, who implanted a crow in Naruto that would help him break the Edo Tensei technique. Itachi was thinking miles ahead and used Naruto as a tool to eventually save him from the control of Edo Tensei, showing that he was already accounting for his demise courtesy of an illness that was wracking his body.

He and Sasuke traveled through dimensions as Kaguya unleashed a beatdown for the ages on them. Had it not been for Sakura’s well-placed punch, Kaguya could’ve easily overwhelmed both Naruto and Sasuke until they were defeated.

Madara is one of the greatest villains in anime history, using Obito as a tool so that he could be revived. After becoming the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, he acquired a wealth of power and was easily able to take out both Sasuke and Naruto.

In fact, he straight up killed the duo, who would’ve passed away had it not been for the Sage of the Six Paths’ timely intervention. They needed the power-up afforded by the Sage to bring the fight to Madara, even if they were unable to take him out because of Black Zetsu’s treachery.

He won this confrontation by overpowering Naruto numerous times with his evolving power. However, Naruto got the last laugh by attaining victory in their rematch and convincing Sasuke to come back to the village.
