Summary
- Players need gold for respeccing passive skill points and buying items; it increases with level.
- Farming spots like the Mausoleum of the Praetor, Ogham Village, and Venom Crypts can yield extra gold.
- Selling identified magic and rare items for gold is more profitable than disenchanting them for other currencies.
Despite the myriad of currencies in Path Of Exile 2, gold is still as valuable a resource as in any other ARPG. If players want to buy items from vendors or gamble on rare items, they’ll need sizeable amounts of gold relative to their level. If players want to respec their passive skill points, they’ll also need to spend gold, and this can run up a pretty big cost if players need to respec a lot of nodes.

Path Of Exile 2: Best Places To Farm XP
Players looking for suitable locations to farm XP in Path of Exile 2 may want to prioritize the following places.
Players earn more gold as they kill monsters, and it can also drop from chests. As players level up, the base amount of gold that drops will steadily increase, but the cost of items and respecs will also increase. Depending on how a run is going and the leveling choices a player makes, they might find themselves in need of more gold fast at some point during their Path of Exile 2 campaign. This will be even more relevant for Solo Self-Found players. For those players, these are the best places and the best techniques for farming gold in Path of Exile 2.
1
Mausoleum Of The Praetor
Forgotten Riches
Players will get to the Mausoleum of the Praetor early on in Act 1, and it’s a good map to grab some extra gold and item drops while there. The map has a relatively high monster and chest density for its level, and there is a secret room called Forgotten Riches that can be accessed for guaranteed rare chest spawns and some extra gold on the floor.
Players need to find the room with a statue and two coffins side by side. There’s a switch on a pillar in this room that will open the hidden stairs to the Forgotten Riches. Since it’s early on in the game, it won’t be a huge amount of extra gold, but the map is highly efficient for farming until players out-level it, and the trick can be repeated in Act 4.
2
Ogham Village & The Executioner
Act 1 Farm
As players reach the end of Act 1, the final boss, Geonor, can be a bit of a pain point depending on the build players have gone with and their drop luck along the way. For players who reach this point and find they don’t have enough DPS or survivability in the fight, going back to the Ogham Village map can be a good option.

Path Of Exile 2: Best Places To Farm Exalted Orbs
Exalted Orbs are a useful currency in Path of Exile 2. Here’s how players can get their hands on them.
It’s relatively easy to run to and defeat the main boss here, the Executioner, and this is a decent way to generate some extra gold and item drops at this level. Don’t forget, if gold is what players want, then selling the magic and rare items that drop as players farm is going to be one of the best ways to get it.
3
Identify Before Selling
Increase Your Per-Item Value
When it comes to generating gold, players are going to earn a lot more if they sell magic and rare items as opposed to disenchanting them for other currencies. Identifying items before selling them will earn more gold per trade, too.
The amount of gold will go up depending on how many affixes/suffixes a rare item spawns with, so players can make a good amount of gold quickly this way. Obviously, this means players lose out on the chance to disenchant a rare item for regal shards, so it’s only worth doing this if players want gold over upgrade currency.
4
The Jungle Ruins
Multi Mini Boss Map
For players who want a little extra gold when they get there in Act 2, the Jungle Ruins is a good map to repeat a couple of times. That’s because several mini-bosses will always spawn here, and clearing all of them can net players a decent amount of gold, currency, and item drops. The size of the map can harm the efficiency of farming a little, but overall, it’s a good spot.

Path Of Exile 2: Every Act 3 Boss, Ranked
Many of the Act 3 bosses in Path of Exile 2 will give players quite a run for their money. Here’s how they stack up.
As is always the case in Path of Exile 2, once players out-level the map, the efficiency of farming it decreases dramatically, and players will almost always be better off moving on to higher monster-level maps at that point.
5
Venom Crypts
Act 3 Farm Spot
Similarly to the Mausoleum of the Praetor in Act 1, the Venom Crypts in Act 3 has a reputation as a good farming map due to a higher than average monster and chest density for its size.
It is a good place to get some extra gold and item drops while players are running through it, but like other maps, it’s not worth repeating over higher-level content once players surpass the map’s maximum level. With that said, Act 6 players, in particular, will get good returns out of this map if they want some extra gold.
6
Don’t Neglect Increased Rarity Modifiers
Non-Specific Map Farm Technique
Since selling magic and rare items can be a good way to earn gold in Path of Exile 2, that means that having higher item rarity modifiers on a player’s gear can increase their gold returns. Items with higher rarity, or more rare modifiers, are worth more gold in general, so dropping more higher-rarity items will result in more gold if players are identifying and selling them at vendors.
To enhance this even further, players can use the gold charm. This charm activates when players kill a rare or unique monster, granting a 20% increase to the rarity of items found. If players can afford the defensive sacrifice of another charm in the slot, this is a good way of getting more valuable items to sell from bosses and elites.
7
Endgame Maps And Modifiers
Which Is Most Efficient?
The best place to earn gold in Path of Exile 2 is in the endgame. The player is earning the most gold per drop since they’re approaching their highest level, and the maps and monsters are more rewarding in general at this point, and that only increases at higher tiers. On top of that, endgame map waystones can specifically roll increased gold drop modifiers.
For players running endgame maps, the best modifiers to look for to get more gold from maps are increased gold dropped, increased number/rarity of chests, increased number/rarity of items dropped, and increased pack size/rare monsters/magic monsters. Increased gold drops are the most important, while the other modifiers all just help drop chance in general. These are the modifiers to look out for if players want to amass a hoard of endgame wealth.
