Unreleased Nintendo Switch Games Reportedly Leak Online

Summary

  • Unreleased Nintendo Switch games like Ridge Racer have leaked online.
  • Leak includes footage from a game called Harmony and development builds of other titles.

Multiple unreleased Nintendo Switch games have reportedly been leaked online, including a Ridge Racer title, a LEGO Civilization game, and more, giving players a taste of what might have been. It’s not uncommon for games to begin development but ultimately fail to reach the market in their final form. Issues such as funding problems, technical roadblocks, and changing market trends are just some of the obstacles that can lead to a game being canceled before it’s finished. Now, it seems that several such Nintendo Switch titles have made an unexpected appearance online.

With the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 just around the corner, fans of the iconic gaming giant have a big 2025 in store. Nintendo has a bounty of classic games in its extensive catalog, including the original Ridge Racer, which debuted back in 1993. The Ridge Racer game, which is now available online via a leak, was reportedly being built as far back as 2017 but was never officially announced and was presumably canceled. However, the recent leak has brought the unreleased game back into the spotlight, along with a bevy of other titles.

As recently revealed by resetthepicture on Twitter, an early build of the canceled Ridge Racer game developed by Bandai Namco Studios Singapore has been leaked online. The game was built using Unreal Engine 4, and the post included video footage of the unreleased title. Additionally, a menu screen for the game LEGO Civilization was leaked, along with development builds of Splatoon 2, Arms, and Rime, all of which were reportedly found on the development kit. It’s believed that the footage was obtained from a Nintendo Switch development kit that was sold online.

Leak Reveals Multiple Unreleased Nintendo Switch Games

  • Arms
  • LEGO Civilization
  • Ridge Racer
  • Rime
  • Splatoon 2

The long-running Ridge Racer series has seen multiple entries over the years and remains a relatively well-known racing franchise, especially during its heyday. Earlier this year, Nintendo Switch Online added Ridge Racer 64 to its ever-growing collection of N64 titles. While the recent leak of what was intended to be the latest installment in the series allows players to glimpse the visuals and limited gameplay, it’s unsure whether the footage will reignite interest in the dormant franchise.

Aside from Ridge Racer, the leak also revealed a menu screen for the unreleased LEGO Civilization, which appears to be a LEGO-inspired version of the classic strategy game. LEGO has released tons of licensed video games, but unfortunately, it seems LEGO Civilization won’t be one of them.

Footage from an unannounced game from Retro Studios also appeared in the online leak. Titled Harmony, it appears to be a puzzle-orientated game from a third-person perspective. Retro Studios is behind plenty of Nintendo games, but it seems like this one was not destined to make it to store shelves. For now, players can jump online and check out these unreleased games and maybe even push for some to get a second chance.
