Fortnite Ballistic maps are at the core of gameplay, they’re more than scenery. The flow of maps can dictate how games go. It’s also been an area where the game has been lacking since launch. Players haven’t had a huge spread of different maps to try out. They’ve been largely limited to the initial launch map. However, that’s changing with this newest update.
Along with the Fortnite Festival update, Epic is beginning to rolled out new maps. Although, they aren’t quite finished yet. The update is being called Test Grounds by Epic. It’s a way for players to try out the shell of a new map, get a feel for how it plays. Although, the maps aren’t as polished visually as we’d expect from most Fortnite updates. How will all this new content work?

A new set of Fortnite Ballistic maps have come with the latest update. Both are going to be available as shells, slightly unfinished tests for upcoming changes to the game. The first is Hammer Fall, a map we’ve seen a bit of already. It’s similar to the old Citadel that players remember from Chapter 4, at least in concept.
It’s definitely a map made for Fortnite Ballistic though. The first new map getting added is called Storm Chaser Cove. A more scenic area. Although, with these being shells we aren’t sure of how the visuals will definitely appear once the maps are finalized. The two maps will be rotated in the Test Grounds playlist for those who want to try things out.
There are a few other changes coming with the Fortnite Ballistic update. While the maps are the big ones, we’re getting the Fire Grenade and Overdrive gadgets. That’s a unique element to Fortnite Ballistic, that’ll make the gameplay a bit different in this game mode.
Other new weapons are being added too, which will be fun to see on the new maps. The Burst Assault Rifle and Sovereign Sniper have been added. Which means there’s now an exclusive weapon for Ballistic. The mode could end with its entire set of weapons unique to it.
