These movement shooters are engaging and dynamic, why not give them a try?

Throughout a shard you’ll get the chance to buy new items from Gan’s shop, or alternatively unlock more items by taking part in events. There’s a massive selection of items in Haste, but out of all the options available, which will help out Zoe the most?

Grunt’s Helmet

Triggered

To complete each level in Haste as fast as possible, you’ll want to get the best landings you can. The better ranked your landing is, the better boost you’ll get and Zoe will keep up her speed even better.

However, in later levels, you won’t just have to worry about Zoe’s landings, but also any obstacles that deal damage. That’s why having the Grunt’s Helmet is so useful. Upon getting a perfect landing you’ll get a second of invulnerability with no cooldown. This is perfect for avoiding taking damage from any obstacles right after you land.

Activated

Otherworldy Contact in Haste.

The further you get into Haste, the more overwhelming the obstacles you’re dealing with get. Whether it’s projectiles, lasers, massive structures, and even attacks from enemies, there’s a lot that Zoe will have to avoid.

This is why you’ll want to pick up Otherworldly Contact on your run if you see it. This item needs to be manually activated, and when you do it will get rid of any obstacles nearby for 5 seconds. Even though it has a pretty lengthy 35 second cooldown, it’s still a perfect ability to have at your disposal for clearing the path if it’s getting too overwhelming.

6

Replenishing Vial

Activated

While some of the items you’ll find in Haste have a pretty complicated description, sometimes it’s the simpler items that are the most useful, and the perfect foundation for a strong build. One of these simpler items to keep an eye out for is the Replenishing Vial.

When activated, the vial will restore 100 points of Zoe’s health. For reference, Zoe doesn’t even have 100 points of health until getting a few upgrades with The Captain, so this is more than enough help to get her back to full health or at least close depending on how many health upgrades you’ve activated.

5

Timeline Recalibrator

Triggered

Timeline Recalibrator in Haste.

Zoe only has a limited amount of lives at her disposal on a run in Haste, and usually you’ll want to conserve these for as long as possible so you have as many chances as possible to beat the boss at the end of the shard.

There aren’t many abilities that help Zoe directly avoid death, but the Timeline Recalibrator is an exception to this. On an attack that would usually kill Zoe, she instead restores 25% of her health and gets a bonus five seconds of invulnerability and a 15 percent boost too. While this powerful ability has a 60 second cooldown, it’s still a useful trick to have up your sleeve.

4

Big Pumpkin

Passive

Big Pumpkin in Haste.

In the earlier levels of Haste, when you’re up against a boss, one of the most common issues you’ll have is that Zoe doesn’t feel beefy enough, and she can only take one or two hits from an enemy before losing a life.

While you can save up your antisparks and buy expensive permanent health upgrades from The Captain, for a quicker solution, keep an eye out for the Big Pumpkin at Gan’s store. This passive item will increase Zoe’s life by a beefy 60 points, making her a lot more durable on her run.

3

Personal Matter Stabilizer

Activated

Personal Matter in Haste.

Activated items are some of the trickier to manage in Haste. This is because there is usually so much going on that the last thing you want to worry about is choosing when to manually select an item to use depending on the scenario.

There’s a lot of great indie roguelikes out there, but these are the best.

This is why the simpler the activated item the better, and a perfect example of this is the Personal Matter Stabilizer. This item will give you ten seconds of invulnerability, making it a useful skill to have when you’re overwhelmed. Keep in mind that this won’t save you if you die from falling, but otherwise it will protect Zoe from all other types of damage.

2

Aromatic Herbs

Repeating

Aromatic Herbs in Haste.

Even though the Aromatic Herbs are one of the first items that you’ll have access to in Gan’s store, they’re also one of the most useful. Restoring only two health doesn’t sound like it would be that helpful, but what makes it so powerful is that it’s a repeating item.

With only a two-second cooldown, you’ll heal two health every two seconds. While it isn’t easy to notice when keeping an eye on your health bar, it adds up quickly, and after one safe level, you can essentially heal all the damage you took in the last one.

1

Timeline Refactor

Triggered

Timeline Refactor in Haste.

While most of the best items in Haste are pretty passive and don’t require much effort, letting you focus on the gameplay itself, there is one clear exception to this being the Timeline Refactor, but its worth getting used to.

Every time you take damage, you’ll be immediately healed, time will rewind five seconds, and you’ll even get a brief 0.4 seconds of invulnerability. This ensures you don’t take damage wherever you’re dragged back to and gives you sufficient time to avoid wherever you took the hit last time. Getting dragged back five seconds is quite jarring, but it’s a great way to perfect your runs to avoid taking damage, and with only a 20-second cooldown, it’s much more sustainable than other similar abilities.
