After years of dormancy, things have started to happen around Hollow Knight: Silksong. Don’t give me hope like that.
Now, in another piece of good news, a member of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s marketing team has confirmed that the game will be releasing on the original Nintendo Switch.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Getting A Release On The Original Nintendo Switch
Seeing as it appeared in Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct, and not the one it held a week earlier for the original Switch, there was some concern in the Hollow Knight: Silksong community that the game wouldn’t be coming to Nintendo’s soon-to-be last-gen hardware. Thankfully, that isn’t going to be the case.
Aware of the situation, Matthew Griffin, who works in marketing and publishing for Hollow Knight’s Team Cherry (and on Crowsworn for Mongoose Rodeo, one of my most-anticipated games), tweeted the following:
Just to clarify… Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to both Nintendo Switch AND the Nintendo Switch 2.
It’s likely to be news to the ears of those who, like myself, first played Hollow Knight on the original Switch and, unlike myself, aren’t planning on getting the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch.
This single tweet will already feel like justification for recent comments made by Nintendo President Doug Bowser. He said, channeling comments made by Microsoft towards the end of the Xbox 360 era, that anybody who can’t afford a Nintendo Switch 2 should just play games on the original console. At least we know Hollow Knight: Silksong will be one of those cross-platform games, joining the likes of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
