Tencent has already revealed what the next big update in PUBG Mobile is all about. As per the official note revealed regarding the PUBG Mobile 3.8 Beta phase 1, the fan-favorite mobile battle royale is adding a dose of steampunk fantasy in Erangel.

The update is titled as “Steampunk Frontier” seems to draw inspiration from the widely popular anime ‘Attack on Titan’ with its new movement mechanics and gadgets like the Mechanical Hook. Here’s every new feature you need to know
PUBG Mobile 3.8 Beta: Steampunk Frontier Mode Features
Center to this beta is the new themed mode, Steampunk Frontier, which turns classic combat areas into busy train stations and industrial centers. Highlights include:
- Aetherholm: A big central train station with recreational amenities, such as a clock tower featuring a hidden room that can be accessed through an elevator.
- Cargo Hub: A two-area transit station that links urban and rural settings through connected tracks.
- Hot Air Balloons: Scattered aerial observation points throughout the map for rapid reconnaissance.
- Rollercoaster Checkpoint: Heart-stopping ride that provides fun as well as strategic viewpoints.

Train-Based Gameplay Mechanics
The update adds two main types of giant steam trains that not only provide transport but also have an active role in the gameplay:
Epoch Cargo Train:
- Makes stops at Aetherholm.
- Calls for special cargo deliveries.
- Includes a Steam Supply Crate in the driver’s cab, refilled at each stop.

Express Train:
- Loops around the map constantly.
- Briefly pauses at Cargo Hubs and Train Platforms.
- Provides players with access to a Mechanical Cache through a clockwork puzzle.
Other interactive features include:
- Clockwork Attendants and Merchants: Use tokens to buy health-restoring drinks or essential supplies.
- Lucky Cog Machine: Draw supplies on tokens.
Innovative Themed Items & Classic Mode Enhancements
The beta also adds a dash of excitement to the classic gameplay with new items and features.
- Mechanical Grappling Hooks: Facilitate rapid movement throughout the map.
- Giant Transformation Serum: Transforms players temporarily into larger sizes for greater health and mobility, as well as special melee moves.

- Sticky Bomb: Now sticks to surfaces for tactical explosive damage.
- Spare Tire: Helps with rapid vehicle repair.
- Motorcycle Driver’s Seat Firing: Facilitates one-handed gun firing while on motorcycles.
How to join the PUBG Mobile 3.8 beta Test
The Version 3.8 Beta Test 1, has already rolled out on April 3, 2025. Players can use the official link to participate in the new update and check all features firsthand.
