Pokemon GO Announces New April Raid Day

Pokemon GO has announced a new Raid Day for April 13 featuring Mega Heracross, Hariyama, and Scraggy. The event will be the fifth Raid Day held by Pokemon GO this year, following the editions that featured Mega Gallade, Ho-Oh, Hoopa Unbound, Mega Absol, and Mega Audino.

Heracross is one of the monsters featured in Gen 2, and its design is very similar to that of the Hercules beetle. Remembered for being one of the Pokemon that Ash used in the anime, it doesn’t evolve from or into any critter. However, it can Mega Evolve and get a bulkier exoskeleton. Hariyama is a Gen 3 pocket monster whose design is inspired by a sumo wrestler and is the evolution of Makuhita. Scraggy is featured in Gen 5 games, and this charismatic lizard-like creature evolves into Scrafty at level 39. These three Pokemon will be featured in one of the April events, giving trainers new opportunities to catch them.

Pokemon GO has announced Sparring Partners Raid Day featuring Heracross, Hariyama, and Scraggy. The event will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time, and during this period, the three Fighting-type Pokemon will appear more frequently in Raids. From Sparring Partners Raid Day onwards, Mega Heracross, Hariyama, and Scraggy will be able to learn Charged Attack Upper Hand. This skill has 50 power in raids and gyms and 70 in trainer battles. In addition, using Charged Attack Upper Hand in trainer battles can reduce the opponent’s defense by one stage.

In anticipation of Sparring Partners Raid Day, Niantic will increase the daily limit of Remote Raid Passes to 20 from Saturday, April 12, at 5 pm to Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 8:00 pm PT. During the event, trainers will receive up to five additional free Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs in gyms and have an increased chance of encountering shiny Mega Heracross, Hariyama, and Scraggy in raids. Niantic will release a $4.99 ticket with benefits such as 50% more XP and double Stardust from raids, new free Timed Research, and a $4.99 box in the Pokemon GO Web Store.

In addition to the Raid Day focused on the trio of Fighting-types, Eldegoss and Gossifleur will be added to the game at the Spring to Spring event, which will kick off on April 9. Tinkaton will finally make its Pokemon GO debut at the event celebrating the Pokemon: Horizons anime, starting on April 16. Another debut that will take place this month will be Gigantamax Snorlax, on a Max Battle Day scheduled for April 19.
