The Marines are a powerful bunch in One Piece that fans know holds tremendous weight in the grand scheme of things. For the pirates, the Marines are the biggest of threats, especially since they are one of the three major superpowers in the One Piece world that maintain the balance on the seas. Before the timeskip of the story, it was revealed by Garp that the three big powers are the Yonko, the Marines, and the Shichibukai.

The Marines are a major and powerful faction that exist in the One Piece world. On the surface, the Marines are simply there to take care of people and curb the influence of the pirates. However, the truth of the matter is deeper than that. The Marines aren’t there for the people of the world, but to maintain the order that was established by the World Government. After all, the Marines are the military branch of the World Government and fans know for a fact that at the end of the day, the Marines simply do what the Celestial Dragons want them to do. In other words, they’re pawns in someone else’s game and a show of military force that, more often than not, end up doing harm.

The Marines have shown direct involvement in many tragedies, such as the one on Ohara, which is one of the many reasons why Dragon stands so vehemently against not just the top composed of the Celestial Dragons. Within the Navy itself, fans know there are many hardliners, such as Akainu, and with him, many others, who believe in Absolute Justice and would go to no lengths to slaughter people. In a safe future, this type of organization cannot be allowed to exist as it does. That is precisely why there needs to be a new Navy organization at the end of One Piece, and Oda has already laid the groundwork for it.

The Marines, as an organization, represent justice. They are currently directly under the influence of the World Government and the Celestial Dragons, but eventually, the Celestial Dragons are going to be removed from power, and when that happens, the Navy will have to change. The hardliners of the Navy, such as Akainu, Onigumo, and many others, have absolutely no place in the new world that will be established after the Great War. These are the characters that need to, and will most likely, fall in the Final Saga of One Piece.

Meanwhile, Oda had already revealed the plans for a new Navy through characters like Garp, Fujutora, and Smoker. As far as Fujutora and Smoker go, fans know what they think of the higher-ups. Fujitora openly claimed that the Navy failed in Dressrosa, and chose honestly instead did deception, something that earned him the wrath of Fleet Admiral Akainu. But, going forward, the Navy needs just men like Fujutora. He even allowed the slaves to escape in Marijoa, because that’s what his ideals tell him to do, and he allowed Luffy to beat Doflamingo in Dressrosa. Fujutora is already setting up an example of what a Navy person should be like. Both Smoker and Tashigi are the same. They have their own morals and they aren’t lapdogs of the Government.

Together, these three will be major in the future establishment of a new Marine order.

The Next Generation Of The Marines

Garp, as fans know, has always been a part of the Navy, but he’s always sought reform. Garp wants to raise people who will one day change the face of the world and make the Navy proud. In that regard, he’s already done his job with Koby and the other members of SWORD, who are all kind-hearted and think twice about others before themselves. Together, these elements will play a major role in One Piece once the current order falls and crumbles in the Final War. As that happens, a new world order will be built, and it is highly likely that Fujutora and the others will be a major part of it in One Piece’s endgame.
