While the game won’t be free-to-play, you may wonder if there’s a way to skirt around that with your Game Pass subscription.
Dune Awakening is poised to offer the ultimate survival game fantasy, plonking you down on the most inhospitable planet in sci-fi, patting you on the back, and sending you on your way. The Dune Awakening release date for PC has yet to arrive, but there’s already hope that Game Pass subscribers will be able to get involved at some point without having to cough up more cash. Dune Awakening Game Pass
Dune Awakening has not been confirmed for Game Pass. Funcom has not mentioned that the game is coming to Game Pass, nor does the game’s Xbox store page indicate it will launch on the service.
That said, there is still hope for the Dune Awakening Game Pass dream, albeit further down the line. Dune Spice Wars, also published by Funcom, arrived on Game Pass in November 2023, two months after it left a year-long early access period. Conan Exiles, meanwhile, made its Game Pass debut in June 2021, three years after it left early access.
While these long stretches between launch and Game Pass may spell doom if you’re hoping to hop into an Ornithopter sooner rather than later, Awakening could yet buck the trend. Firstly, it’s launching as a full release, bypassing early access – the sticking point for Spice Wars. Additionally, the version of Conan Exiles that came to Game Pass was the enhanced version, and actually launched on the service.
Considering all of this, there is every chance that Dune Awakening will be announced for Game Pass when Funcom confirms its console launch dates. Alternatively, Awakening could mimic Conan Exiles and abstain from the service for a few years, until a potential next-gen version materializes. If Dune Awakening ever comes to Game Pass, it’s a toss-up as to when that will most likely be.
