Summary
- A 2008 TV adaptation that was considered lost media has been found.
- Six volumes of the show, the only ones released, have been found on an old iPod.
- The show aired on MTV and there was no trace of it online outside of a trailer until now.
Long before Invincible was a hit show on Amazon Prime, the comics were adapted for MTV. However, the motion comic series was considered lost media as it isn’t available to buy or watch anywhere, nor does anyone have copies of it. That was until someone shared proof that they have all six released volumes of the show saved on an old iPod.
Even though MTV’s Invinicible adaptation wasn’t a secret – it aired on TV in 2008 and was available to watch online – the Amazon show’s continued popularity shone a light on the lost motion series. It was just last month that I covered the show being considered lost media since no one was able to track it down, not even the experts on the r/lostmedia subreddit.

It’s already the best thing involving Invincible Kirkman has ever seen, and it’s not even finished.
In the users of that subreddit’s defense, even they would have had trouble finding where exactly the show has been hiding. As noted, MTV’s Invincible was available to download before it disappeared. In theory, that meant it must have been stored on some old devices somewhere. That has now been confirmed to be true courtesy of geekstuffgt.
Invincible’s Lost TV Adaptation Has Been Found
It Was Hiding On A Really Old iPod
“I’ve seen a lot of posts about the lost Invincible cartoon by MTV with some people calling it fake”, they wrote on Instagram. That’s right, despite it airing on television, the lack of evidence led some to believe people claiming the comics had been adapted once before already were lying. “Looking at an old iPod I just happened to find it… It’s a bad edit and has horrible sound but the device is pretty worn down… I have volumes one to six and that’s all that came out.”
The post includes a recording of a docked iPod and the user scrolling its menus to show six volumes of the Invincible motion comic series as well as what appear to be some behind-the-scenes looks at the show. They play the opening credits, and also show Omni-Man revealing the true goal of the Viltrumites and why he has been stationed on Earth.
That is apparently where volume six, and hence the short-lived motion comic series, comes to an end. It would have made a lot of sense to end there as that’s the first big plot twist in the Invinicble story. It’s also the same place that season one of the Amazon adaptation leaves off before returning for season two.
Apparently, the motion comic series was never renewed for a second season, or at least it never returned to TV. Even though we have Amazon’s adaptation, it’s good to know the original attempt at turning the comic into a TV series hasn’t been lost forever. Now we just need to get it off of that iPod so everyone can check it out.
