- If Cronos hits its 2025 release date, it may hint at more Silent Hill remakes from Bloober in the near future.
Developer Bloober Team’s forthcoming third-person survival horror title, Cronos: The New Dawn, is a fresh IP for the studio that follows on the heels of its work on last year’s lauded Silent Hill 2 Remake in collaboration with publisher and IP holder Konami. Cronos: The New Dawn is scheduled to release sometime later this year, although a firm date has not been given at this time. The title looks intriguing from what has been shown of it so far, though, hitting many of the marks that the studio has become known for, and promising players another unnerving horror experience.
In the period leading up to Silent Hill 2 Remake‘s launch, there were equal amounts of expectation and trepidation regarding how Bloober would handle a modern reimagining of such a storied and beloved game. But it delivered on all fronts, and the success of Silent Hill 2 Remake gave fans of the franchise renewed hope for its revival. Now, based on some prior information, if all remains well and Cronos: The New Dawn keeps to its 2025 release window, this could be a positive sign for more Silent Hill to come from Bloober.

If Cronos: The New Dawn Hits Its 2025 Release Date, It Could Mean Another Silent Hill Game From Bloober Team Isn’t Far Behind
Cronos: The New Dawn was revealed at the Xbox Partner Preview showcase on October 17, 2024, with the announcement coming barely a week after Silent Hill 2 Remake‘s launch, on October 8. The studio seems to be firing on all cylinders and with Cronos: The New Dawn looking to have strong Dead Space vibes, Bloober Team has found itself in the position as one of the premiere horror developers. Cronos: The New Dawn‘s faster-paced announcement and release date plans may thus imply that Bloober is already in the stages of working on another Silent Hill title, which is supported at least in part by some corroborating information.
After Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team Might Release Another Silent Hill Remake Sooner Rather Than Later
While nothing has been officially confirmed by either Bloober Team or Konami at this time, towards the end of 2024, an insider leak suggested that remakes of Silent Hill 1 and SH3 are in the pipeline. Given Silent Hill 2 Remake‘s reception, it’s a fairly natural assumption that remakes of the first and third entries are at least being considered as next in line to receive the treatment.
Silent Hill f and Townfall are also in development by other studios, and the former has received an official ESRB rating, implying it is closer to release than previously thought.
It’s also known that Bloober Team previously signed a deal with Konami to produce another game based on the latter’s IP. With the two now established as firm partners, it’s not that far of a leap to think that this could be either a Silent 1 or SH3 remake, and that the project is potentially further along in production than what might normally be the case, as both seek to strike while the iron is hot.
Taking everything of the above together, it could be a good indication that Bloober Team will soon move onto (or possibly already has) another Silent Hill title. Whether this is one of the aforementioned remakes, or something more unexpected in the series, is currently unknown, but so long as Cronos: The New Dawn doesn’t experience any hiccups or delays in its release, it might mean that fans will see another SH entry from Bloober much more quickly than expected.
