Japan is massive in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, and while exploring is encouraged, having a mount by your side can make things easier. While you’re roaming the country, you might get tired of the default appearance of your horse. Luckily, you don’t have to keep it as there are several mounts available to you.

Here’s where to find those elusive legendary Sumi-e Painting.
While there are a number of regular mounts you can come across, like most high-end loot, the Legendary Mount is off the beaten path in a place you wouldn’t expect. If you’re trying to get a new mount, this guide will show you the location of the legendary variant.
How To Get The Namazu Mount
At the time of writing this, there is only one Legendary Mount that you can find, called Namazu Mount. It can be earned early on in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Just make sure you get past the prologue of the game.
Additionally, if you purchased the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s Edition or subscribed to play the game via Ubisoft+, you can also get the Sekiryu Beast.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is a constantly updating game; more Legendary Mounts may drop in later updates.
Where To Find The Namazu Mount
Getting this mount is rather easy once you know where to look. First, you need to be on the island of Okishima on Lake Biwa in Omi. Just look northwest of Azuchi, and you’ll see the largest land mass in the lake. That’s where you’ll need to be.
Once on the Okishima, navigate to the western side of the island. There should be a couple of enemies near a bonfire in this location, with a side mission just past them.
After you’ve taken care of the enemies, dive into the water directly in front of the bonfire. When you’re in the water, go under, immediately turn around towards the island, and swim leftward.
By swimming along the submerged part of the island, you should see an entrance to a cave. However, you might have to swim deeper if you can’t find it.
The mouth of the cave can be easy to miss since it’s deep in the water. Try going to the island during the day or increase your brightness in the game’s settings to see the entrance better.
When you find the entrance, swim through it and follow the only path. It’ll lead you to the chest holding the Namazu Mount. Once you have it, swim back to the surface to freely change your mount.
It’s worth pointing out that this mount is purely cosmetic. There won’t be any change in gameplay when you equip the Namazu Mount.
