One Piece: Oda Just Revealed A Character With Monstrous Haki In Elbaf
This character in Elbaf has one of the most potent haki seen in One Piece.
So far, the Holy Knights are the only other foreign body working in Elbaf that isn’t the Straw Hat Pirates, but Oda might very well be hinting at the arrival of one more power that could shake the entirety of Elbaf completely. This person is one that fans are very familiar with already, and she also served as a member of the Four Emperors recently, Big Mom.
Big Mom’s Connection To Elbaf In One Piece
- Big Mom Lived In Elbaf For About A Year
- Big Mom Killed Elder Jorul
Big Mom is directly connected to Elbaf, and this has been clear in the story right from the beginning. In the Whole Cake Island arc of One Piece, fans saw Big Mom’s past, which was directly connected to Elbaf. A five-year-old Linlin was abandoned in Elbaf by her parents with the hope that she would be helped by the Holy Mother Carmel.
Hey, Mother, where did you go? Why did you leave me? — Big Mom
Big Mom spent quite a lot of time in the country of the Giants and given that everyone around her was of the same size as her, it was quite easy for her to adjust to the place. But, on the day of the Winter Solstice, Big Mom’s hunger pangs led to a massive rampage in Western Elbaf Village, and it eventually caused the death of Elder Jorul.
The Giants have hated Big Mom ever since that day, and what made it worse was the marriage pact between Loki and Lola. Since Lola escaped and rejected the marriage, Big Mom tried to force the marriage on Chiffon, Lola’s twin. But, her plan failed and at the end of things, Big Mom was hated even more. Big Mom’s deep connection to Elbaf makes her a fascinating character for Oda to bring up in this country.
Big Mom Is Mentioned Multiple Times In Elbaf
Big Mom Has Been Mentioned On 3 Separate Occasions In Elbaf Already
Big Mom has been mentioned multiple times in Elbaf already, and while it could simply be Oda tying up multiple plot points together, it could also be something deeper — an indication of the idea that Big Mom might well and truly come to Elbaf. Linlin’s defeat was forts brought up in the banquet in Elbaf, and here, Oda avoided mentioning that she had died, which was very interesting.
This is Nash. He’s a homie created when my old man went to fight against Big Mom. — Goldberg
At the same time, fans also got to see the children’s worst fears come to life in the Elbaf arc, and much to the surprise of the readers, one of the fears was a mother of a child, who looked remarkably like Big Mom. This could’ve been another piece of foreshadowing from Oda about Big Mom’s return in Elbaf. In the same dream manifestation, a storm was also born, which resembles Big Mom’s thundercloud, Zeus.

This new One Piece character could be the protagonist of One Piece’s sequel, if it ever gets one.
In One Piece chapter 1145, Goldberg, the cook of the New Giant Warrior Pirates, mentioned that his shield, Nash, had a soul inside it, and that it was a homie that was created when his dad went off to fight against Big Mom. Yet again, fans saw Big Mom being mentioned in the arc. What’s even more interesting is the fact that all the homies Big Mom created are still alive and well, which could be an indication of the fact that she’s very much alive still.
Will Big Mom Return In The Elbaf Arc?
The Chances Are There For A Linlin Return
Undoubtedly, there is a huge chance for Big Mom to return in this arc. For one, Big Mom will most definitely be present in the arc in a flashback as Loki’s past will explore her connection to Lola and the canceled wedding with Chiffon. The Elbaf arc will also give fans a good look at the Rocks Pirates, and it is clear that this pirate crew was in Elbaf too.
Aside from flashbacks, however, Big Mom could also show herself in Elbaf in the present timeline. For one, Big Mom was never explicitly stated to be dead by a reputed source. Secondly, Big Mom still has unfinished business with Elbaf. Fans know that Big Mom still has no idea about the fate of Mother Carmel. Only one giant saw the act being performed, and he lives in Elbaf. Clearly, Oda could very well bring back Big Mom here and bring an even better end to her story.
One Piece chapter 1146 will be out very soon, later this week. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on the upcoming Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on April 20. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1146 is April 20, 2025.
