A Minecraft player has discovered a trick that lets gamers mine resources at an incredibly fast rate. Since the legendary sandbox game first hit screens back in 2011, it has become somewhat of a global phenomenon. Minecraft is known for the huge range of creativity it offers players to craft and construct just about anything from simple buildings and vast worlds to tools and weapons. However, to make these in the game, players must first gather and mine the required resources, which can be laborious at times. But one player has stumbled across a shortcut.

Even though the iconic title has been a major part of the gaming landscape for nearly 15 years, Minecraft still posts impressive stats. Its continued ability to keep older players engaged and draw new gamers into its blocky world is a testament to its inherent appeal. In the game, mining is not only important for crafting and building but also central to unlocking valuable items that aid in exploration and survival.

Critics be dammed, the Minecraft fandom has turned out in droves for A Minecraft Movie, and records are going to be broken.

A Redditor who goes by Tree_forth677 recently shared a method for mining resources lightning fast in Minecraft using silverfish. The video shows the player using controlled silverfish detonation, where the tiny creatures damage other silverfish, causing the burrowed ones to unburrow and break the blocks they were inside. To make this work, poison potions continuously damage them while regeneration potions keep them alive so they can continue burrowing and reemerging. However, some commenters mentioned that this technique is only effective on stone and deepslate, but also noted that it’s a great way to expose a lot of other resources for mining.

A Minecraft Player Discovers Silverfish Mining Trick

In the game, silverfish are hostile mobs that resemble small, insect-like creatures. Silverfish are acquired differently from other mobs like cows; players must obtain a Silverfish Spawner found in strongholds, typically near the End portal. There are a couple of other ways to get silverfish, and once achieved, they can be relatively useful. On top of supercharging mining, silverfish in Minecraft can also help boost XP quickly.

While the method shared by Tree_forth677 is useful for breaking up a variety of materials that players may want to mine, many commenters mentioned that the silverfish mining technique is most effective for stone and deepslate. The latter is more difficult to mine than regular stone, taking longer and requiring at least an iron pickaxe or a Silk Touch enchantment to extract. However, deepslate builds in Minecraft can be used to create many visually stunning structures, like deepslate bridges and lighthouses.

While deepslate is a relatively common building material, on the other hand, stone is one of the most important block types in Minecraft. This versatile and durable material can be used to construct a range of items, from castles and walls to tools and weapons.
