During the run-up to A Minecraft Movie‘s premiere, the project just couldn’t catch a break. Everyone hated it as soon as the first trailer dropped, and it only got worse with every new reveal. Now, it’s gone on to make a ridiculous amount of money, but for a time, the PR around the film couldn’t get much worse.
One of the negative headlines involved comments made by the streamer Valkyrae, real name Rachell Marie Hofstetter, about her time on the film. Here, she revealed that she had a cameo, and while she was shooting it, she claims she saw Jason Momoa “mistreat” crew members. She added that the set was “not a good work environment”, and she would “not be happy working under these conditions”.

Now, the film is out, and this cameo is nowhere to be seen. This has prompted speculation that it was removed due to the comments made by Hofstetter, and it seems that she agrees.
Valkyrae Responds To Her Cut Minecraft Movie Cameo
As reported by Dexerto, Hofstetter addressed her cut cameo in a live stream. “As for the Minecraft Movie, let’s just say I’m not gonna touch too much on it,” she says. “But as much as you guys saw the other creators that were in it, would have been the equal amount you saw me in it which is 30 seconds. So it’s okay. I would much rather not have 30 seconds than be sued.”
With that said, an eagle-eyed fan believes that you can still spot her in one shot of the film. So, if her cameo really was removed because of her comments about Momoa, it seems that they couldn’t erase her from the film entirely. Of course, it’s also possible that it was just cut to bring the runtime down and had nothing to do with the incident at all.
A Minecraft Movie is in cinemas now. It appears to be performing well, having one of the most successful opening days of any video game movie.
