How To Complete The Fall Of The Empire Quest In The First Berserker: Khazan

The First Berserker: Khazan takes you to the Imperial Capital of Vitalon with the Fall of the Empire mission, and here, you come across a city ravaged by Chaos. Exploring the streets of Vitalon can be a challenge with tough enemies on every corner, but with a good strategy and some guidance, you’ll be able to overcome this place with ease.

Fall of the Empire is the 14th main mission, and it is recommended to be at least level 119 before attempting it. There are also certain enemies that can inflict the Plague status effect on you, so you should bring some Plague Cleansing Potions with you on your journey.

Fall Of The Empire Walkthrough

In Vitalon, you’ll also have to deal with chaos-emitting stones that will explode after being attacked. These stones build up the Chaos Status effect on you, but they can also be used to your advantage against tough enemies, because if you destroy these stones, they’ll explode and stagger any enemy in its range, opening them up for a Brutal Attack.

Alongside that, there’s nothing much to worry about in this area, other than chaos-inflicted enemies disguised as civilians that would unleash a grab attack on you from every corner. You’ll have to find a total of five Soul Stones and a Jarling in this area.

Path To The First Blade Nexus And The First Soul Stone

As you arrive in Vitalon, you’ll have to go against a few imperial soldiers and a ballista before reaching the first Blade Nexus. After you’ve defeated the enemies, you’ll find the elevator shortly ahead, alongside a corpse where you can absorb Lacrima and obtain an Unstable Soul Tearstone.

After using the elevator leading downward, you’ll find the Old Town Blade Nexus ahead. But, before you go there, you’ll have to take an immediate right, and you’ll notice a small path blocked by a barricade and a wooden fence. Attacking it will lead you to the first Soul Stone.

Exploring The Old Town

You have to progress straight ahead after the Old Town Blade Nexus. Shortly after, you’ll encounter a few corrupted imperial soldiers. Defeat them, and you’ll find a small staircase to the left with another imperial soldier sitting there. You can obtain the Water Spirit’s Fuel from there and return to the main path.

After you’ve progressed a little, you’ll encounter a path leading to your left and some loot on the right. You’ll have to go left to progress forward, but there are many imperial soldiers and a ballista here that you’ll have to deal with. If you go up the staircase on the right, you’ll find a Lightning Enhancer guarded by a disguised civilian.

If you take the main path, you’ll immediately come across another fork. There will be two imperial soldiers to the right, and if you defeat them, you can pick up two Flash Stones from a narrow alley. You’ll have to head back and go to the house on the left to progress ahead.

Unlock The Shortcut To Old Town

Inside the house, you’ll find an imperial swordsman and a fire mage. If you head inside the room straight ahead, you can pick up the Reese 1 parchment. Progress further into the house, and you can find a chest guarded by two imperial soldiers. After clearing the chest, go upstairs.

There will be an imperial spearman that you’ll have to defeat. Here, you can go out of the door and across the wooden bridge to progress further, but watch out for a disguised civilian right as you reach the wooden bridge.

You’ll encounter a large halberd knight here at the other end of the bridge. Defeat the enemy here and open the locked gate. As you progress ahead, you’ll encounter a Beast of Madness alongside several dogs to the right. But before you go take them on, go a little further to the left, and you’ll spot a ladder that you can kick to unlock the shortcut.

Path To The Plague-Emitting Grounds

Return to the area with the Beast of Rampage and the dogs. You can ignore them if you wish, but there are two Choas Cleaning Potions there that you can pick up. On the main path, you’ll encounter more imperial soldiers. There will also be a fire mage here, so you’ll have to be careful.

There’s a path to the left leading to a house. There’s a chest inside the house, but you’ll have to go on the path leading straight ahead to progress further. If you go straight ahead, there will be more imperial soldiers that you’ll have to take care of.

There’s also a corpse full of Lacrima that you can absorb behind the rubble. After absorbing the Lacrima, open the gate to progress ahead. You will encounter chaos-emitting stones from now on.

Traversing Through The Chaos Mist And The Second Soul Stone

Shortly after you enter this area, you’ll encounter disguised civilians and as you enter the large open area with a statue in the middle, you’ll have to fight against a Beast of Madness. Defeat it quickly, and you can pick up the Day the Black Moon Rose 4 parchment in front of the statue.

You’ll have to destroy many of these purple stones to progress ahead. Shortly, you’ll enter a similar open area, but here you’ll face two Beasts of Rampage at the same time. Here, you’ll find a purple rock to the right. There’s a small opening here, and you’ll find the second Soul Stone in the area right in front of you.

After destroying the Soul Stone, go through the large gate in the area and cross the bridge to reach the Main Street Blade Nexus.

Through The Waterways

After resting at the Main Street Blade Nexus, you can progress to the path leading downward. You’ll encounter a Corrupted Creation here and will have to defeat it to reach the lift leading downward.

As you reach the waterways, you’ll encounter Andell. He will tell you that he’s looking for Seona and ask you to let her know that he’s in the capital if you come across her on your journey. After talking to Andell, take the ladder leading downward.

Failed Creations And The Third Soul Stone

Here, you’ll encounter many plaguing enemies, but you have to progress ahead until you reach a dead end where you’ll have to jump down to progress. Here, you can either jump from the left or the right to the platforms below. If you jump from the right, you’ll be greeted by a plagued husk, ready to grab you.

However, if you fall from the ledge on the left, here you can pick up the Ghost Hammer, and can safely fall to the ground. There will be two Failed Creations roaming around the area. On the wall to the left, there’s a small opening with water flowing down. You can spot the red glow from a distance.

Approach it and you’ll find your third Soul Stone. There are multiple cylindrical structures here, and you’ll be able to find multiple items here. There’s also a chest in one of the structures next to the path leading ahead. After you progress from this area, you’ll reach an elevator that will take you to the surface once again.

Exploring The New Town

From the New Town Blade Nexus, you can turn back towards the elevator, and you’ll find a path where you can jump off to the platform below to your left. You can pick up the Mercenary Scroll from here, and then fall down from the platform to fight against an imperial Elite Enemy.

After defeating the Elite Enemy, you can absorb the Lacrima of a corpse on the ground. Turn around and progress ahead to go through the streets of the New Town where you’ll encounter more chaos-emitting stones and two Beasts of Rampage.

While progressing through the streets, you’ll encounter three Hermit’s Enchanted Stones at the far end. After you’ve obtained the item, look for a crack in the wall, and you’ll be able to progress ahead from there.

Route To The Church

There will be a ladder in the house that will lead you to the upper floor. There’s a broken wall, leading you to the Hismar Transport Log. After collecting the item, head back inside and take the stairs leading to the second floor.

There will be a few enemies here, but after defeating them, you’ll have to fall through the second hole in the floor to fall back to the first floor. Here, you’ll encounter a chest. After picking up everything in the chest, go back on the ladder and progress ahead.

From the second floor of the house, you can head out and travel along the ledge to reach the next street. There will be a Beast of Madness here. Defeat it and stay on the path to reach a house filled with multiple imperial soldiers.

Make your way to the top floor of the house. You’ll see the path to head out of the house from there, but before doing so, turn around and open the locked gate. You’ll find the Bard here, and if you’ve found him in all the previous locations, you’ll be able to hear the final part of his story. Right after heading out of the house, you’ll come across the Church’s Blade Nexus.

There’s also a chest inside the locked room.

The Church And The Fourth Soul Stone

Rest at the Church’s Blade Nexus and immediately head towards the statue. There’s a Soul Stone behind the statue. After that, head out on the street and here you’ll find more of those purple chaos stones and several strong enemies, such as the Corrupted Mage.

You’ll shortly come across a mansion. Be ready to face strong imperial soldiers again. As you walk up the stairs, you’ll find a Corrupted High Cleric. These mages are strong, but you can repeatedly attack them to interrupt them. After you’ve defeated the enemy, you’ll find two doors leading to the right.

Finding Seona And The Jarling

From this area, you can either go downward or upward on the stairs. Going downward will lead you to a room with two doors. If you open the one straight ahead, it will open a path for you at the entrance of the mansion. If you open the door to your right, you’ll find Seona, the lady Andell was looking for.

After informing Seona about Andell, go back to the stairs and head upwards. You’ll arrive at the top floor and will find a Failed Creation waiting for you right ahead, alongside a few other smaller enemies.

Go along the bridge to another part of the mansion and walk up the stairs in front of you. There will be multiple humanoid enemies here, but you have to progress ahead until you reach a room with a broken wall that leads outside.

Here, before going out, go to the top left corner of the room and destroy the jars there to find the sole Jarling in the area. After that, you can head out of the mansion by walking on the narrow ledge.

Back To The Church And The Fifth Soul Stone

From the ledge, you can fall to the open area outside. There are a few purple chaos stones here, but what you have to do is open the gates to unlock the shortcut to the Church Blade Nexus.

After resting at the Church, go back to the open area again and destroy the purple stones to open up a path. You’ll find a Beast of Rampage here and a Spirit Ore. Keep progressing ahead until you come across a statue holding a book in its hand.

Here, you have to take the stairs to your right. These stairs will lead you directly to the fifth and the final Soul Stone of the area. After destroying the Soul Stone, go back down and progress on the other path.

Path To The Central Square

There will be a Corrupted High Cleric here that you’ll have to defeat to progress ahead. You’ll encounter a bunch of imperial soldiers ahead, and you’ll have to fight all of them. Shortly ahead, you’ll encounter an Elite Enemy, a Frenzied Corrupted Creation.

After defeating the Elite Enemy, you can pick up the Special Cleanse Potion from the ground before continuing ahead. There will be a few more Chaos stones blocking your path on the way, but you only have to progress forward as the Central Square Blade Nexus is near.

From the Central Square Blade Nexus, you have to make your final preparation before you’re ready to face Hismar, the Berserk Dragon.
