Fusion has been a massive aspect of the Dragon Ball franchise since the early days. However, it was only really brought to the forefront of the series in the Majin Buu Saga, where Goku and Vegeta would unite their strengths using the Potara Earrings to birth Vegito, who was, by far, the most powerful character in the entire universe at that point. He was so strong that he made Buu’s strongest transformation look weak in comparison.
Since then, the Saiyans have performed this technique scarcely, only really resorting to using it when all other options have expired. As Dragon Ball has gone on, a new fusion between Goku and Vegeta, named Gogeta, has been introduced and, alongside his Potara counterpart, has taken the spot as the multiverse’s strongest mortal. However, some believe there may be someone above these two, so let’s see the possibility of this.

Ever since Super began, the power scaling of the franchise has gone through the roof. Not only are the characters far stronger than they have ever been, but the general level of threats that they have gone up against seems to have increased just as much, making them fight even harder than they would have otherwise, which makes them even more powerful.
The fusions have only ever been used by Goku and Vegeta as a last-ditch effort to gain tremendous power at once so that they can put their enemy down for good, with Vegito’s last use being in the fight against Merged Zamasu and Gogeta’s being against Broly. This raises the question of the most powerful mortal in the entire Dragon Ball multiverse. Currently, the title is shared by Vegito and Gogeta, since they take Goku and Vegeta’s already incredible power and add it together as well as giving it a further boost on top of that.

On the face of it, no other character comes close to this level of strength, least of all someone who is unfused. However, there is a notable trend that many fans believe about this series that relates to power scaling. Basically, they state that characters at a later stage in the story are far more powerful than others from earlier on in the story due to how much stronger they have gotten over that time. For example, many believe that Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku from the Tournament of Power is stronger than Vegito in the Goku Black arc.
Others disagree with this sentiment, but even if this were the case, the current versions of Gogeta and Vegito are still leaps stronger than most others in the multiverse. However, due to the impossibly wide power gap between Black Frieza and the regular Saiyan’s ultimate forms, many fans believe that the Frost Demon would still be stronger than Goku and Vegeta if they were to fuse in the current setting.
Although this is unsubstantiated due to it being based purely on speculation, it’s not totally off in the realm of possibility because of how easily Black Frieza took down Ultra Instinct Goku, Ultra Ego Vegeta, and Gas in his final form. Other than him, fans believe that there could possibly be a character somewhere off in the multiverse who exceeds the fusions in power, or even the fact that someone like Jiren may have been training ceaselessly to get even stronger, which may take him above the level of the fusions.
There are also possibilities for other characters to fuse, the product of whom would undoubtedly be either as strong or even stronger than Vegito or Gogeta. Most probable of these is the much-anticipated fusion between Gohan and Broly, which could use the unmatched potential of both of these characters to form an unstoppable warrior who has all the strengths of these two powerhouses.

As stated previously, most fans believe that Gohan and Broly would be the perfect next duo to fuse in the series, which would be incredible to see. However, an otherworldly powerful threat would be needed in order to prompt the need for them to fuse, which, again, fans think could be Black Frieza or a previously unforeseen threat somewhere out in the multiverse.
Conversely, the only other fusion of main heroes in the franchise is Gotenks, who is born from the union of Goten and Trunks. However, these Saiyans are young and their fusion, while powerful, simply can’t stand up with the others, both in terms of raw power and lack of experience. Despite this, Goten and Trunks are destined to show their fusion again, which fans would love to see since it would be the first time seeing Gotenks at an older age.
