Now that Clash Royale’s 9th Birthday Season is over, a fresh one called A Tale of Thieves is here. It brings four weekly events and a bunch of new stuff to check out. Kicking things off is the Executioner Evolution Draft, and, as expected, it comes with a shiny new evolved card.
Like usual draft events, you’ll get to pick four cards from pairs of choices, while the cards you skip get tossed into your opponent’s deck. One player also gets the new Evolved Executioner, which makes things more interesting. You’ll earn crowns instead of seasonal tokens this time, helping you make progress in the Free Pass rewards. Here’s how the Executioner Evolution Draft event works in Clash Royale and how you can come out on top.

Clash Royale’s Executioner Evolution Draft Event, Explained
The Executioner Evolution Draft runs from April 7 to April 14 and adds the brand-new Evo Executioner to the game. That brings the total number of evolved cards up to 31. While you won’t know your full event deck, you can still make smart picks and win matches if you play it right.
The evolved version of Executioner keeps the usual HP, attack speed, and other base stats—but what makes it special is its supercharged axe. Once evolved, he slashes through enemies at close range, making him great against swarms, air troops, and even towers.
Tips to Win the Executioner Evo Draft
- First things first, keep your deck low-cost. Since you only get four cards, don’t go for all high-elixir picks. Try choosing two cheap cards and two medium (or high) cost ones unless you get something really strong. This way, your deck cycles faster, and you can play more often during the match.
- Next, pick the Evo Executioner if you see it. This card is the star of the event and gives you a nice advantage. But it’s not a win button—you still need to use it well. Drop it when facing a bunch of enemies, air troops, or when pushing toward enemy towers.
- Some solid cards to grab if they pop up include Executioner, Inferno Dragon, Princess, Electro Wizard, Elixir Golem, Miner, and Royal Recruits. All of them are super useful in draft format.
- Finally, when choosing between a ranged unit and an air-only troop, go with the ranged one. They usually hit both ground and air units and can help with tower destruction, too.
Once you start winning, you’ll get crowns instead of tokens. These crowns go toward unlocking rewards in the Free Pass section in Pass Royale. The Seasonal Shop got closed, so this is your main reward path for now.
