There are some RuneScape quests that are just built different. There’s One Small Favor (of course), While Guthix Sleeps, and Darkness of Hallowvale, each of which revolutionized the game in their own, unique ways. Return to the Desert, the next chapter of the long-running Desert Quest series that began in 2005, is hoping to cement itself in the MMORPG’s hall of fame, and it’s well on its way to doing so. The second part of the three-part quest, Pharaoh’s Folly, has just arrived in-game, bringing you one step closer to the epic faceoff against Amascut, the Devourer and Goddess of Destruction.
The latest installment in RuneScape‘s ongoing saga drops us into The Golden City of Menaphos, a desert metropolis that’s embroiled in chaos. The mysterious silver-tongued Osman has been machinating in the background, intent on dividing the city’s inhabitants and turning them against one another. Working with Leela, Osman’s daughter, you’re tasked with putting an end to his treachery while simultaneously fending off the corruption that Amascut is spreading throughout the sands.
Leela isn’t your only companion, though, as we’ll see the return of some of the MMORPG‘s finest, alongside the addition of “new furry friends,” who’ll help you survive the Shifting Tombs. In the dev diary below we see what looks like an adorable little cat, and I know for a fact that I love them already.

A quest 20 years in the making, we’ll finally be able to confront Osman and bring an end to his ongoing treachery. Then, in Eclipse of the Heart, we’ll finally take on Amascut herself, bringing the chapter to a close.
Completing the quest will net you a slew of different rewards, from a new title (‘The Rabble-Rouser’) to Agility and Thieving XP. You’ll earn better passive effects, including things like less damage from Soul Obelisks, more XP from the Shifting Tombs, and better runecrafting returns from the Soul Altar. There’s also a new bracelet, aptly entitled Leela’s Favour, which allows you to teleport to all districts of Menaphos, including the Sophanem slayer dungeon and Shifting Tombs.
In order to undertake Pharaoh’s Folly, you’ll need to have completed a series of different tasks. You need to be slayer level 87, and have completed Return to the Desert’s first quest, Beneath Scabaras’ Sands. Additionally, you’ll need to have completed the various requirements to complete the Do no Evil quest in ‘Phite Club,’ and built the forts that cap off the Fort Forinthry Storyline. If you’re sorted and rearing to go, meet Leela at the gates of Menaphos.
