American Horror Story Season 13 Should Feature The Urban Legend The Babysitter And The Man Upstairs Along With Emma Roberts
American Horror Story season 13 could tell a story based on the urban legend “The babysitter and the man upstairs.” This urban legend has inspired several slasher movies, including the original Black Christmas from 1974 and the 2006 and 2019 remakes along with the 1979 film When A Stranger Calls starring Carol Kane. This time around, there could be a fun twist where the babysitter character is actually the killer or there could be more than one killer targeting them.
It would be interesting if American Horror Story season 13 was funnier than some previous seasons, and a campy slasher story based on an urban legend could mix kills with humor. In order to stretch the story across 12 or so episodes, the season could be about a main character who is a college student or in their 20s and who takes on a babysitting job. It could take place during one weekend, which would be a fun change from previous seasons. The babysitter could have a secret that would be revealed in the final episode, and the setting could also poke fun at haunted house horror tropes.
Besides focusing on an urban legend, American Horror Stories season 13 should also star Emma Roberts. She did a great job as final girl Brooke Thompson (Emma Roberts) in American Horror Story: 1984, which was season 9, along with playing evil witch Madison Montgomery in AHS: Coven. Most recently, Roberts played the main character Anna Victoria Alcott, an actress experiencing a strange and unsettling pregnancy in American Horror Stories: Delicate, which had an excellent cliffhanger.
Roberts has a great horror movie background that includes playing Jill Roberts in Scream 4 and a mysterious character named Joan Marsh in Osgood Perkins’s The Blackcoat’s Daughter. She also played the cruel Chanel #1 on Ryan Murphy’s campy TV series Scream Queens. Since she can play a villain or final girl with ease, she would be perfectly suited to a season centered around a new take on a creepy urban legend.
Since Roberts has appeared in more than one season and always sounds positive about the show, perhaps she would want to come back. In 2014, she told E! News:
“American Horror Story, in general, scares me to death. I was a fan the first two seasons before I came on.”
American Horror Stories Has Featured Urban Legends Before
While each season of American Horror Story includes horror tropes, urban legends appear to be the basis for two episodes of the spinoff series American Horror Stories. Since viewers are familiar with these plotlines, seeing the big twists in each episode makes them even more enjoyable.
American Horror Stories season 2, episode 5, “Bloody Mary” takes on the urban legend of the episode title, which many people grew up hearing about at school or from friends. In this case, a group of friends summon an evil spirit, and their lives change in terrible ways.
The urban legend “the killer in the backseat” appears to be the inspiration for American Horror Stories season 2, episode “Drive.” In the classic story, a woman is driving when she realizes that someone is following her in another car. In this episode, Marci (Bella Thorne) finds herself in the same situation. However, like the excellent AHS episode “Bestie,” there is a twist, and the story goes in a shocking direction.
