inZOI allows ZOI to take on a wide variety of hobbies when they aren’t working or handling other tasks. Some of these hobbies, such as painting, writing, or fishing, can even be used to make some money and/or acquire useful items.
It’s worth noting that some items acquired in this way cannot be directly sold and instead make use of Pocket Market and/or the Secondhand sale mechanic. Pocket Market is accessed via a ZOI’s smartphone, while secondhand sales require you to purchase a Secondhand Sales Counter and then place the items on it.
One great way of making some extra money in inZOI, while also acquiring a few other useful and interesting items, is by fishing. Accessible by heading to specific spots in each of the game’s cities, the fishing system in inZOI is currently a little barebones, though it is probable that it will be updated and/or reworked as the game continues development.
By choosing from two types of bait, a ZOI can spend a fixed amount of time fishing before receiving a random item, which is usually but not always a fish.

How to Go Fishing in inZOI
Fishing is a fantastic way to acquire ingredients, and anything you don’t want to cook with can easily be sold for more money, so here’s how to get started. You’ll need to go to a section of the city that is treated as a “fishing spot.” A good example of this would be Harang River Park, in Dowon. You can head to a small area next to the river here to find these tackle boxes, which can be interacted with to access two fishing interactions. A great fishing spot you can visit in Bliss Bay is North Beach, where you can walk out onto the piers to find tackle boxes that can be used to access the fishing interactions.
“Go Fishing” will allow you to fish for free, while “Fish with Advanced Bait” will spend 5 Meow to use better bait and (usually) catch bigger and better fish. It doesn’t take long to catch something, so you’ll probably want to queue up a few instances of whichever action you prefer, so your ZOI will keep fishing a little longer. There’s a ton of different fish you can find this way, though their uses are a little limited in the current build of the game, and you can also sometimes fish up other items like dolls.
It’s likely that more fishing locations will be added as more cities are implemented during development. When trying to track down a fishing spot, it’s best to head for a public location that is adjacent to a river, lake, or to the ocean.
So far, it seems that Fishing with Advanced Bait offers a higher chance of catching better fish and other rare objects. In all of my attempts while testing, I only caught the Great Barracuda when I was using Advanced Bait, though it’s likely that you can catch it with regular bait at lower odds.
What to Do with Fish in inZOI
Once you’ve caught some fish, there are a few different things you can do with your catch. Anything your ZOI catches will initially be held in their hand, though they’ll move it into their inventory whenever they have to do something that uses their hands. You can take them back out by clicking on them in the inventory and then hitting the “Take Out” button in the lower right of the inventory panel.
Once your ZOI is holding the fish, they can put it down on most surfaces by clicking on the surface and clicking “Place.” Fish don’t stay fresh forever, though, so you shouldn’t leave them lying around your house if you can avoid it. Instead, you’ll want to sell them secondhand, or fillet them to get ingredients.
All fish can be sold secondhand, and if you’re planning to sell a lot of them, you should buy a Secondhand Sales Counter and set it up outside your ZOI’s house, where you can then put your catches down. Click on one and hit “Sell Secondhand” to set a price, and hopefully you’ll be able to turn a nice little profit from your fishing escapades.
Some fish, usually the larger ones, can also be turned into fish fillets by using the “fillet” option after clicking on them. This will turn them into fish fillets, which do not expire for some reason and which are needed for certain recipes. Any ZOI who is leveling up the cooking skill will eventually stumble across some recipes that call for fish fillets, such as sushi, so it’s worth doing a bit of fishing if you want variety in their cooking.
You can purchase a Secondhand Sales Counter in the build mode menu. It’s easier to find it if you type “Secondhand” into the search bar, since it’s the only object in the build menu that contains that word. Secondhand Sales Counters can also be used for selling any other objects that you might not want, including decorative objects like vases or bottles.

Useful Information about Fishing in inZOI
Fishing in inZOI does not have a skill associated with it, though this might change as the early access period continues, so your ZOIs will always be just as competent at fishing regardless of how much they do it. This is important to know because some non-fish items can be pulled up from the ocean by going fishing, and certain fish are rarer than others. Still, there’s no way to increase or decrease the odds of finding certain items aside from choosing to use advanced bait, which seems to increase the odds of pulling up more valuable fish and items.
