Pioneering an expedition on a completely unrecorded continent is no easy task, and having one or two main settlements won’t be enough to let the team rest properly. Fortunately, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land allows you to have multiple bases at once, which you can fully customize and build to your liking.

Looking to expand your wardrobe in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land?
Using those areas can give you some very useful advantages when exploring, such as special facilities that help you with your Alchemist business. Or simply some nice buildings that satisfy your need to live in a cozy house in the far-away hills of Aladiss.
Unlocking Building And General Rules
The Building function is unlocked during the quest ‘Survey Prep Work’, when first visiting Yumia’s Atelier. You can build in any suitable area by opening the command wheel and selecting Building, then choosing which items you want to make and place.
You can craft new furniture either on Workbenches or directly through the Building option. Regardless of the method, all crafted items are stored in your inventory until you place them. This inventory is separated from your ingredient storage (which is kept in the Container instead), so don’t worry about having too much furniture at once.
Building is available on the Atelier, inside Building Areas, and in Camping Sites you find by exploration. Some story-related areas will also allow you to build and place some items for quests, but these are usually very limited spaces.
Instead of Ingredients, crafting furniture consumes Materials. These are collected automatically when picking up Ingredients on the ground, depending on which type of Ingredient you’re getting. Minerals and rocks will get you Stone materials, for example, while plants and flowers give you Fibers and such.
There’s no limit to how many Materials you can have, but they are automatically stored in a Container whenever you get next to one. If you’re lacking Materials to build something, make sure you have already placed a Container in your current area to get access to your complete Material stock.
Each furniture or structure has a Placement Cost, while each Building Area/Camping Site has its own Cost limit. Luxury furniture tends to have bigger costs, so they’re not a good fit for Camping Sites, which all have small Cost limits by default. The maximum Cost limit can be increased through certain activities in the game.
You can remove all construction and furniture from an area at once. All items are stored, and can later be used again without spending your resources. You cannot destroy your furniture and get its materials back, though.
Building Areas And Camping Sites
The two main zones to start constructing are the Building Areas and the Camping Sites. They are unlocked, respectively, by clearing Manabound Areas or by finding them around the world. Some are tied to story progression and are the most traditional places for building real structures. Both work as Fast-Travel points.
Building Areas are the main construction zones. You can place any kind of structure, furniture, or facility in them, as they are the biggest areas available in the game. You can find them throughout all Regions in the game, and once unlocked, plenty of NPCs will appear around it.
By opening the Catalog, you can choose between using Normal (Free Build) or making special Facilities in Building Areas. You can also use a preset for Free Build, which automatically builds a set of structures for you. Materials for all furniture are consumed immediately, assuming you have enough for the whole construction.
In Free Build, you can add as many objects as you want, as long as you don’t reach the area’s Cost limit. This includes more houses, small shacks, or utility objects such as Altars and items that enhance Synthesis. Adding a Facility is similar, but you can add presets and won’t have access to some extra features.
Camping Sites, on the other hand, are much smaller and have a lower Cost limit. They are unlocked as soon as you walk close to them and are often included as some part of the Region’s Pioneering Effort.
They are also the only location where you can start Camping with the Camping Sets made through Quick Synthesis. Camping fully restores your characters’ HP and grants them combat buffs for a few minutes, as long as you cook a meal. It is also the only location where you can trigger some (otherwise missable) unique character interactions.
Facilities And Comfort Level
Building Areas may have Facilities installed in them. They can grant Yumia easier access to some resources for her Synthesis, so having a couple of them is recommended, especially if you’re struggling with getting the right materials for the job. The facilities are:
Facility Name |
Description |
How To Unlock |
---|---|---|
Greenhouse |
Duplicates certain ingredients. |
Ligneus Pioneering Effort reward. |
Storehouse |
Stores more items than your Container is capable of. |
Ligneus Pioneering Effort reward. |
Manufacturing Plant |
Duplicates certain synthesized items. |
Auruma Pioneering Effort reward. |
Mana Converter |
Creates Trait Crystals, Particles and Energy Prisms. |
Lacuna Pioneering Effort reward. |
Facilities can make your life easier, and you can still build more structures around it. However, when choosing to add them, you won’t be able to get any Comfort Level in that area unless you demolish the Facility and anything else you built there.
The Comfort Level is obtained exclusively through Free Build mode and increases according to the number of items added to the Building Area. Luxury items give a higher Comfort Level, and reaching certain values gives you exclusive rewards. Each Building Area has its own Comfort Level goals and rewards.
After obtaining the goal Comfort Levels for any Building Area, you can safely remove all structures from it and turn it into a Facility if you want to. Rewards won’t be removed.
How To Get More Furniture
Furniture is mostly acquired by opening Treasure Troves around Aladiss. They often reward you with recipes for new objects to place inside your bases. Simply collecting the recipe allows you to craft that new item immediately, assuming you’re inside a crafting zone.
Some recipes can also be obtained by exchanging with regional Traders once you unlock them through Pioneering Effort tasks. These include both Preset recipes and regular Furniture recipes and once they’re obtained, you cannot trade for them again.
Some Furniture might also be obtained after completing the Personal Quests for the main characters. These are marked on the map with each of your party members’ icons and are unlocked after key moments in the story (i.e. after learning about Rutger’s past).
Lastly, Pioneering Effort itself is also a source for some of the Furniture recipes. They might be required for completing some of the next tasks in the same Region, so be ready to make them as soon as you get the recipe.
